Cascade is the best detergent by far. I've tried so many while my old dishwasher was slowly dying, and this was the only one that always got everything clean. Now, with a new dishwasher there is still residue with the other brands while I am trying to use the hottest up. This one always gets everything off and spot-free.

After spending several hundred dollars to repair a fairly new dishwasher, to discover a blockage in the hose caused the solenoid to burn out, my repairman informed me that “pod” type dishwasher detergent does not always dissolve completely and even the high dollar brands leave plastic behind, which in addition to potentially gumming up and breaking your dishwasher (an expensive investment these days), spews plastic into our water systems and eventually ourselves. As a family, we have been fighting to do our part to eliminate plastics in our daily lives. We buy biodegradable products, natural fiber clothing, and consciously choose to pay more to avoid plastic. I never realized “pod” cleaners didn’t dissolve. Expensive lesson. I chose this product for many reasons and even though it comes in plastic, we will reuse the container for years and eventually my husband will recycle it into plastic bricks (an easy and nifty way to recycle plastic, and super to share with kids - they enjoy making building toys and backyard playspaces, easy instructions online). The product itself is clean, gets dishes clean, and leaves no streaks or residue. It pours neatly with few drips, and even a kiddo can accurately fill the dishwasher soap tray. It rinses cleanly and completely without leaving any taste, scent or residue, just a clean sparkle that looks nice on the table and gives you confidence that you’re doing the right things for your family. A++ good buy.

I switched to liquid from pods after septic contractor showed me the undissolved plastic pods clinging to the walls of my septic tank eeeewww! Yes pods are more convenient to store but this will save my septic system and gets my dishes just as clean. It’s also under my control and I don’t fill the dishwasher drawer to the limit and it ends up costing less than premeasured pods which are overkill since I rinse dishes first.

I made the switch about a month ago from the regular Cascade that I’ve used for 4 continuous years to the clear version. I must say, I am much more calmer in my home since switching products and I also have less headaches. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the perfume/scent. I overfilled my detergent compartment and when I took out clean dishes to use, the items contaminated my food because the product was too strong. Specifically, I boiled water in a glass safe bowl in the microwave and when I took the bowl out, it smelled like strong perfume. I had to then handwashing the bowl. The same thing happened with a fork; I took a fork out of the dishwasher to taste my mashed potatoes and after eating the potatoes from the fork, I tasted perfume/soap. It was scary and I was very unhappy. Because I already paid for the product, I kept it. I now use a lot less of the product and it seems to work much better without leaving a perfume/soap taste. I do want to acknowledge how well this product cleans dishes while leaving no water stains at all. Again, I use less detergent for a better result. The package directions will tell you to use more for larger loads but DO NOT use more because you’ll probably have the same issue. Just rinse your dishes free of food reside before loading them into the dishwasher to cleaned. I usually did this with the regular cascade as well anyway.
