Boomwhackers Octavator Tube Caps

As a Suzuki piano teacher, I work with small children. Even though they're young, their repertoire is quite extensive. I wanted to have a set of low Boomwhackers so we could play the songs that need more than one octave, but the tubes in the bass set were MUCH too long for a 4- or 5 year old to use successfully. So I simply bought another set of C Major Diatonic tubes and put the Octavator caps on them. My students love them and are genuinely thrilled to be able to play all the songs in Book One on the Boomwhackers (I got the treble extension pack as well quite a while ago).

These octavator caps are the perfect addition to your class set of Boomwhackers. It brings the musical experience to a new level.

Putting these caps on your boom-whackers essentially turns them into "stamping tubes", and lowers the pitch by one octave. You can stamp the capped end of the tube on the floor or a table top. A semi-soft surface works best -- like a carpeted floor -- but they'll work on a hard surface as well. So these do what they're supposed to do. The plastic is really light gauge, though, and really these things shouldn't cost more than a quarter apiece. You could, essentially, accomplish the same thing by putting a piece of duct-tape over one end of the tube, although it wouldn't look as pretty.

Octavator caps drop the pitch to the spot where my students sing along more correctly. Also, having used them for several years, my Boomwhackers last longer when the caps are on them!

I highly recommend getting these for your boomwhackers! Without the end caps, the boomwhackers tend to have a more hollow sound. You can hear the note, but it isn't very strong. When you put the end caps on, it amplifies and deepens the pitch by an octave. Love these and love this instrument!

Love these. Working with several groups of students ranging from kindergarten to ,5th grade. I let the little ones "play" the melody and the older ones play chords. They can do C F G7 pretty easily and seem to enjoy it. They're learning theory without even realizing it!

Had a hard time finding these! I use Boom Whackers in my physics class and these caps turn open pipes to closed.

Good product and compliment

We have had a blast using the octavators. Not sure why it says xylophone at the end because it is definitely for boomwhackers but great creation. The tuning isn't a perfect octave but it is close enough that only a trained ear or perfect pitched person will likely hear that it is slightly off.

They do the job & bring the bass! Saves you buying the bass set but you can't take them on a off easily mid-playing so probably still best to get the bass set, this is just a cheaper way to convert your existing set in the meantime.
