5 star book 1 star version. I guess you get what you pay for-buy a better translation.
There are much better translations out there. The material itself is a 5 star as Marcus meditates on life and death and how to approach our brief time on earth. This book was obviously not edited at all, and there are a plethora of errors and awkward translations which seem to increase as you move further along (wonder if there was a time limit on translation that rushed them?). To illustrate the errors I flipped through and found just a few of the errors that plague this book and blight this amazing and important historical work: page 58 Book Nine Meditations begins: "He ho acts…" one would assume who instead of ho. page 72 second paragraph: "…be in thy mind, Where then are" page 73: fourth paragraph: "…but that which says, Let my dear children" Page 84: third paragraph: "…not condemned himself? and so…" fourth paragraph: "…let they efforts be-" that's it end of paragraph. page 87 "of nature is seasonable? to him…" I should have kept track of errors better but that would be a book unto itself. Those are just the ones I could flip too before getting bored. Spend more on a better translation is bottom line.
