Great sticks, even for rock
These are my son's favorite sticks. Even though these are more for jazz (he plays rock) he likes the weight and length of them. He's tried a lot of 7A's and these seem to hold up the best, as well. He still goes through a lot sticks but that's more of a reflection on how hard he plays than on the durability of the drumsticks.

The Perfectly Balanced Medium Weight ProMark Forward 5A FireGrain Drumstick Deserves Attention
I have purchased various drumsticks over the years and do have my favorites but the ProMark Classic Forward 5A FireGrain Drumstick I hesitated to buy for some time because of what I thought was its less than desirable aesthetic look and incredibly deceivable heavier look that turned out to be without a doubt a drumstick that every drummer needs to try, own and use in different applications. As described by ProMark it offers a very good mystifying balance but like no other drumstick I can say I own. At first, I couldn’t put my finger on what mesmerized me about ProMark’s Classic Forward 5A FireGrain all around weight and feel, particularly because it had a beefier like diameter in my small hands and I gravitate toward medium or medium thin drumsticks, like Zildjian’s 5A Hickory, which I happen to like very much and Tama’s 5A Oak Drumstick, which also has a nice weight and feel. The ProMark Classic Forward 5A FireGrain Drumstick differs from ProMark’s standard Forward 5A Hickory counterpart because it is so very subtly lighter, giving an intriguing “sense” of being somewhat esoterically hollow yet “hefty” and solid at the same time. The stainless texture provides the necessary grip without compromising the necessary sliding needed for dexterity of stick manipulation. The shorter and wider taper before the tip may be a contributing factor that achieves such favorable outcome with balance and feel. The tip circumference is bigger, which reduces cymbal definition and generates greater volume but also can provide drier texture to a cymbal’s shimmer and tone. The ProMark Classic Forward 5A FireGrain Drumstick is very compatible with drum pads, providing uniquely distinct sounds from various striking points of the stick and pads I so far tested it on, such as Evan’s Real Feel Double Sided Drum Practice Pad, Meinl’s logo black silicone drum pad and Prologix’s Red Storm, Green and Black foam drum pads. The butt of the stick is quite universal, not heavily clumsy and very functional allowing it to be used even as timbale sticks, for a more fuller Tito Puente like sound, a solid and clear “cascara” (the side of the shells) sound. while even using the drum tip for a lighter more defined sound on the timbale heads, cowbells and cymbal. The stick is heralded for its durability but it’s relatively new so the verdict is yet to be rendered on this characteristic. I am now ready to try experimenting with the ProMark Forward FireGrain 7A Drumstick with high expectations.

Overall Great
I am a church drummer and have tried many sticks over the past few years. I have went from the ahead's with the replaceable tips to different wood types. These sticks last me quite a while and is a nice looking stick as well. I am a heavy hitter and don't always hit the cymbals correctly at time but these sticks hold up. The weight is perfect for me, but if I could design a stick it would be this one but maybe a inch or so longer. Overall great stick.

Great control, great durability, great sticks!
These sticks are great! The 7A size has a nice light feel in the hand and allows me to control the dynamics and gives me dexterity when used on an acoustic kit. They bring out great tone in the drums and cymbals. I used them in church within both soft songs and songs that build up to hard hits. I was able to control the dynamics throughout each song very well. I can hit the drums pretty hard and not be afraid of them breaking because they are durable. I am also able to move around the kit quickly because of the lightness of the 7A size. If your style of music requires you to hit hard most of the time, you probably should get 5A or bigger or a size you perfer to be safe about not breaking them. However, these sticks are very durable considering they're 7A. I love them. I will have to give them four stars only because I just got them and I don't know how well they'll hold up over time. Other than that, they are perfect.

Excellent sticks
Love the weight. Good feel and the balance, for me at least, makes a huge difference

These sticks actually matter
I usually use a Vic Firth 7A stick, and these are different in their ability to both take punishment and offer a more secure grip. They have a texture that is not completely smooth and that makes a difference. I bought a second pair.

Some tough, drummy bois.
From rock and pop bands to drum corps and jazz, these have become my favorite all-around kit sticks. While I have a favorite for specifically Jazz, if I was playing a mixed gig and I could only grab one pair, it’d be these. I’m a jazzy boi so my touch may be a tad soft, but I keep a single pair of these (pictured) on the kit for practice sessions. They’ve been loved on for months and just keep begging for rimshots, unhindered by the punishment. On top of that, they wear their scars with pride and look super cool to boot! Eventually they’ll break, but hey, that’s sticks for you!
