Thankfully, we haven't had any alarms, and also no problems. The alarm just plugs in any outlet. Press the button to test. Eventually, I'll take it outside and expose it to propane - just to see what happens. But right now, I presume it works. A little piece of mind in a home with the recent addition of gas heat.

Value for money, good product

A little hard to snap into place but does prevent slippage.

Local Law 157 says every apartment in NYC MUST have 1 of these Natural Gas Detectors. So far these work after the initial set-up, and we did get 1 for every unit in the this building, plus extras just in case.

These are nice, easy to install, and loud in the automatic announcement when plugged in. However, I hope I am never able to provide a review on how well they work (or don't work). And I am not about to run the gas in the kitchen to test them properly. Oh noooo, noooo! It's a cheap (but not cheaply made) peace of mind for next 3 years, at least, which is the recommended life of these. One thing you should know, if your power goes out and comes back on late at night or wee early in the morn, these reset with a loud voice announcement x3!

Update- seller did the right thing with quick followup and resolution. Ive been a firefighter and Haz-Mat Tech for 40 years. I purchased 3 of the Natural Gas Detectors and have had them in use for7 months. Seemed like a good purchase with decent reviews, however I have experienced a disappointing slow response when I tested with natural gas from my cooktop. I have also had numerous false alarms while cooking. The detector is 20" to the side of my gas range cooktop. I have an over-the-range vent that exhausts out of the house. I also installed one in my mothers kitchen and the third in my In-laws kitchen with the same issues. I suppose it could be a bad batch. At this point so unreliable we have decided not to use them. ' UPDATE: The manufacturer reached out to help resolve the problems and I appreciate the effort. I will update again after resolution.

Although I haven’t had it go off for gas emission it seems to work and does the functions listed. I was shocked how loud the speaker voice was during initial plug in at it’s activated. So now I feel safe that it is plugged in my kitchen because my old range has knobs that turn easily when bumped. My hips bump the stove knobs and occasionally I smell the propane, but now I have this alarm to tell me sooner hopefully. As soon as this detector is put through the test I will update this review further. If you have gas appliances, this is really a great device to have in the home for any toxic gases. Just plug in and no more worries. This is my honest opinion
