The line is during the scene when Nomi's boss & friends are leaving the stage, her boss walks back to her and says it, can't put it here in that's it NSFW. But it great. Review: Simply the Best! - I've seen movies like Mildred Pierce to Death in Venice and everything in between, but when people ask me which movie is my favorite, I always answer: Showgirls. My favorite scene is when Nomi Malone is eating a hamburger on top of a terrace and the background is Las Vegas at dusk. Just beautiful! It's now 2016 and I still LOVE this movie! If I had a wish, I'd wish that Elizabeth Berkley would stay young and beautiful forever, and in some way, she will forever live in SHOWGIRLS. It's 2022, and I just watched it on my 4k projector screen. Bigger and over-the-top really is better! Go Nomi, you are the best!

It's so awful I love it
It's so awful I love it. Bad acting and horrible storyline, plenty of nudity though I bought the blu-ray for the same reason I bought the VHS copy when it first came out, Elizabeth Berkley is beautiful and nude.

How Did This Get Made?
First off, let me be clear - the four star rating isn't so much for the film as it is the 15th Anniversary Blu-Ray release. I'm a fan of select films of Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers), the hilarious podcast, How Did This Get Made hosted by Paul Sheer, Jason Mantzoukas, and June June Diane Raphael and what can be considered "trash cinema" like The Room, Troll 2, Samurai Cop, etc. So, when this film kept appearing on podcasts, YouTube reviews, and even a several page spread in the "Bad Movie Bible", I thought it was time to revisit Showgirls. I didn't particularly like the film when I saw it many years ago and after revisiting it, I'm still not impressed though I did appreciate the sheer over-the-top delivery in almost each and every scene. However, I am intrigued! Some possess the view that this is a misunderstood masterpiece. Verhoeven has made biting satires in the past, perhaps this was meant to be one of them? I suspect this theory is apparent in the upcoming documentary on the film and it's critical reaction, "You Don't Nomi", which I anticipate embracing the open-minded challenge, "convince me." The Blu-ray release itself has a few special features that tip the scales favorably for a moderately priced purchase. The most entertaining of which is the firmly tongue-in-cheek audio commentary by David Schumader called, "The Greatest Movie Ever Made".

For What It's Worth ;)
I will not attempt to justify the non-worthiness of this movie, for any cinematic observer probably has heard enough negative commentary or poor reviews. Instead, I must profess that my desire to own this film is not based on plot integrity, production value or Oscar-worthy acting. Far from, actually. It's simple - just eye candy. There. I admitted it. Just blatant, regressive male hormones that took over my most primeval urges of the most Freudian nature. I never had a real, tangible interest in the film's primary star - Elizabeth Berkley, until I saw this movie. "Saved By The Bell" never did it for me, and was too teeny-bopper for me by that time, anyways. But Lord and behold - I see Miss Berkley on this big screen movie, and I was instantly mesmerized by her vivaciousness. I was hooked along with line & sinker. Yes, it's all physical and superficial, and I must be going through a mid-life crisis. Other than that, I truly enjoyed this film for what I understood it to be, and for what it's worth to the pleasure centers of my cerebral cortex. Does it help that I truly enjoyed Paul Verhoeven's other masterpiece: "Total Recall??" ;)

Hot!
I've always liked this movie and can't understand why it was so poorly received, and why it had such a killer affect on Elizabeth Berkeley's career...it's not that bad...and if you don't like it for the story, there's also a fantastic amount of nudity from some gorgeous women...
