Nice and robust, easy to use
This is a good looking timer with its brushed steel front. Nice big buttons, nothing fiddly about it. It has a chunky feel, not trashy at all. The numerals on the display are 15 millimetres high, big enough to see in a normal domestic kitchen. It can also count up as well as down, a feature I hadn't seen in a kitchen timer before. I notice people saying the alarm isn't very loud. I find it adequate but if you lie the timer on its back it's very quiet. Maybe that's where they are going wrong. A few negative points. When you are setting the time it beeps at you. So if you set it for 45 seconds it will beep 45 times, which is irritating. It has a folding stand which allows the timer to sit at 30 degrees but the stand doesn't feel very robust at all. Finally - (and most annoyingly) , the magnetic back isn't strong enough. If you put the timer on a vertical metal surface it will just slide down .

Good little timer
I used to have a timer on my old gas cooker, but there isn’t one on my new one. This timer is really good, simple to operate and I use it for a few different things. It looks more expensive than it was, and not out of place in my new kitchen. I set the timer for my cooking and take it with me into whichever room, so I always hear the beeping when the time is up.

It does what it is supposed to, simply and efficiently.
Much better than the Salter one I had which lost its control with the buttons. Also clearer screen, better controls and stronger stand.

A nice-looking and easy to use timer.
Ours is attached magnetically to the front lip of the large stainless steel hob extractor fan housing above the gas hob. In that position, it is easy to use, both in terms of button pushing and reading the display. Previously, we had a clockwork, magnetic timer with a maximum setting of 60 minutes. Programming this digital timer is simply use of the left button to count up minutes (up to 99), either by single presses or by holding, for it to race a bit. We don't bother with seconds. Then the right button is used to start the count-down, which decrements the display a second at a time. Resetting to 00:00 is done by simultaneous use of two fingers on minutes and seconds buttons. We are learning, but the biggest problem has been forgetting to start the count-down. At the end of operation, the display reverts to the last period set, so seeing 20:00 could mean that the count-down finished and we did not hear the bleeping, or just that we forgot to start the count-down. After a while of bleeping, it goes silent rather than continuing to bleep, but the bleep period is long enough for it to not normally go unheard. The device is a great improvement on our 40-year old clockwork technology and looks very smart.

Cheap rubbish
Weak magnetic, sound stopped working after 1 use

Does the job
Magnet could be stronger. I carry it with me so not an issue. Useful having a few to allow timings of different cooks

Using these in our café. Work well and loud enough to hear across the room. The magnet could be a little stronger

I was coming to see if there was a way to turn down the volume on this timer, and was caught very off guard over the fact that many people were complaining about it being too quiet. They must have fixed something over the past month, because these timers are definitely loud enough to hear from the next room over (or two rooms). The buttons are easy to push and display is perfectly clear. So far, so good!

I bought these to replace a 5-min timer I use for my tea every morning. I love that I can have one that stays set to 5 min and all I do is push the start button. I use the second one for cooking when I need multiple timers. They sit snuggly out of the way on my range hood. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that for some reason sometimes the sound is very low. Then the next time, it's fine.
