Feel like a mountain goat with these on
My husband loves these. Walked all over Tuscany. Not the first complaint. He says they are so light and comfortable! True to size. Well made. Soles have great gripping.

Perfect trail and competition shoe
Maybe THE gold standard in USPSA and IPSC style shooting sports. Great traction, surprisingly light, and the widest most comfortable toe box I’ve found thus far. The speed lacing system is fantastic for going super tight to loose slippers, and you never have to worry about laces untying. I’ve put mine through two Tactical Games skirmishes and 100 matches and one major this year and they’re still going strong. When these die I’m just buying another pair. Only downside for me is they are not great for running on asphalt or rope climbing, I’d recommend running or CrossFit shoes for that.

Slick surface running shoe
Salomon running shoes are great quality and these are right up there. I run on a trail everyday. I use Salomon Sense ride 5s almost everyday. These are a better run shoe for slick or muddy running surfaces. Had a thick sole and high tread. They will work well on snow too. The pill string leaves are nice cause you don't have to worry about your laces coming undone while running. They have a slight heel to them which help with support. They fit as expected, I usually run 10+ miles so they're pretty sweat logged when I'm done. They dry out well on the shoe dryer. So far I 270 miles on them and they're holding up great. My sense ride 5s have over 1200 miles on them and are holding up great which speaks for the quality of their shoes. I wouldn't buy these for everyday run use unless you're running on a muddy surface every time you go out. Overall great value for the price.

As advertised.
My hubby wears these for competition and goes through a pair every 6 months. This is the first time I have gotten them through Amazon. Same product, better price and able to get color and size easily.

I'm ALL in with Salomon.
Yes, I'm. FACTs: I didn't purchase the GTX model, Nooo, I didn't. However, next time, I possibly will. Nevertheless ... Salomon's quality fit, impressive design, Conta Grip sole, comfort performance, high durability fabrics and combined innovative materials ... gives a superior experience each time I adorn my feet with these. Gripping into all surfaces as they anchors my feet and bites into earth's multifaceted terrain. Predominantly ... these ARE trail runners, but I, utilize them for my everyday walking needs. ADDED FACTs: They're are impressively lite weight and invitingly breathable. Also, NOTE: When they get wet, via rain ... puddles, or ponding water. They dry out quite easily and quickly. CONCLUSION: I'm extremely confident in my Speedcross 6s expected performance. Moreover, being streamlined for my narrow feet. I gravitate to these (always) to chop into my daily walk-path. Oh Yeah! Did I mention the awesome value for money? Totally, worth it. Yes! I wholeheartedly DO RECOMMEND for the trails (made for it) ... and just to comfortably step around town ... added bonus, (MADE for it).

One of the top OCR shoes.
Absolutely crushed my OCR with these. Fit as described. 14 extra wide. Speed lace snuggly kept shoes on my feet when in deep fine mud that was claiming other shoes over and over. I’m a heel striker and this was perfect for my muddy trail 10k. Best of all was the grip. No slippage on muddy metal surfaces designed to cause slippage and at the end of the day I soaked them in oxy clean overnight and hit them with a stiff brush and they looked nearly new again. Love them.

fantastic grip on sloped trails
I bought these shoes knowing that grippy soft rubber sole material does not last long... especially if worn on asphalt or concrete. But their grip is noteworthy, and they are much lighter than most ankle-high hiking boots. I bought them intending to restrict their use on trails only... which is what I did. I held off reviewing these shoes until I'd worn them a while. I'll be retiring them soon, and intend to replace them with a pair of Speedcross 6 GTX. They've served me well these past 10 months. I generally hike 5 to 12 miles in them each time, and have put roughly 1000 miles on them. The trails I hiked (and cleared) in them were mostly dirt trails that weren't too rocky, but were occasionally as steep as 60 degrees. I always switched to durable-soled street-running shoes immediately upon leaving grassy or wooded trail areas. I could climb and descend like a mountain goat in them. That's the most notable feature I love about them. Trails that presented no trouble for me while wearing these shoes were really dangerous while wearing durable-soled shoes designed for street-running. The soft, grippy rubber traction difference is incredible. These quickly became my "go to" hikers when clearing trails. Nice to not be slipping while sawing or limbing downed trees on steep slopes. I was surprised to discover that I'd neglected to buy the Gortex version, because my feet stayed dry in these while hiking in wet grass. I intend to buy the GTX version next time, but my feet actually stayed fairly dry in these. I never crossed streams in them, but they worked fine in wet grass. I weigh 140 pounds. If you weigh a lot more than that, if you wear them while walking on asphalt or cement sidewalks, if you walk on rough trails with a lot of talus, scree, or sharp rocks, or if you walk a lot more than 12 miles per day in them - the soles may not last as well for you. They aren't intended to be durable. The rubber on these soles is designed to assist you in sticking to slopes. Not icy slopes (you'd need to add spikes) or slick mossy slopes. But most trail slopes. Soft sticky rubber isn't as durable as the rubber designed for street-running. As long as you understand that on the front end, you won't be disappointed when these don't last nearly as long as your usual street-running shoes. Hope this helps. One additional note: if you need proprioceptive feedback while running steep slopes or knells, Inov-8 trail running shoes are better for that. These Speedcross 6 shoes are more padded and comfortable, but I can't feel the ground underneath my feet nearly as well while wearing them. If you absolutely need to know where your feet are on the ground, switch to Inov-8s (Mudclaws or similar). If you want a more comfortable workday experience while clearing trails, switch back into the Speedcross 6s as soon as you safely can.
