Large pieces with moves labeled on them.
Love this chess set. The pieces have their moves which really helps beginners. Got it for my 7 year old grandchild and he picked it up very quickly. Large size pieces easy to handle.

A must have starter set!
This is a great teaching game. My grandson started playing when he was 4 years old and absolutely loved it. He’s still learning, and it’s been wonderful to watch his progress over the past couple of months. The pieces are a nice size and clearly show how each one moves, which is very helpful for beginners. The price was reasonable, and the design is very nice. It includes everything you need to play a good game of chess. There were no missing pieces—everything listed was included. Overall, this was a great investment. Grandma definitely approves and highly recommends it!

Great set for someone who’s has never played chess before!!
Husband and 9 yr old son love this set! They are learning how to play chess! They loved the cards that explained each type of piece, how it could move, what it could and could not do. Those were very helpful. The other cards were not bad, but not as helpful to them. Would definitely recommend to someone who has never played before!

Easy, beginner friendly
So fun and easy for beginners wanting to learn chess. Just one of the pieces did not have the directions, but that's all. The pieces are really big. Everything's made with plastic except the board, and they are classy.

Excellent training set
Excellent training set for kids, each piece has how each can function. Very durable, my kids throw them nothing broke yet... Good value for money. Board can be little sturdier, it ripped after few uses but it supports portability. Pieces are good size for Little hands. Design is good.

Great for beginners
This is awesome that it has the moves printed on each game piece. Teaching my 7 year old as well as my wife.

Great for young beginners and littles prone to knocking over pieces.
This game was the hit of Christmas. We have played several times a week since December. The large pieces are easy to grab for small hands. When playing, we can help our littles recall the proper movents of the pieces by looking at the piece itself. We first saw this set at our public library and the kids went crazy over it.

I love this set so much. My kids love the cards, the pieces look great, and the box is well designed so it's a fun experience to open it and set it up. Here are a few things to know though (none of which bothered me at all): - The board is made out of regular board game material and it folds into a square with creases just like any board game. - The bases of the pieces can be tight and difficult to take off. - The pieces seem a bit short and light without the bases, so I'm leaving them on even though I know how the pieces move. - The cards go beyond the basic moves and give some puzzles and tips. Nothing that can't be found online but it's kind of cool to read the little facts and tips. - In my opinion, the side with where the pieces go is distracting and not required. My 5 year old learned quickly the starting position of the pieces. I think it would be better to have a card with a picture of the start position and have the second side a different colour scheme instead.

Not a bad chess set for the price. The board is just cardboard and the pieces hollow plastic without a felt bottom, but it's a good little set for young ones learning the game.

Great chess board and pieces for absolute beginner

Purchased for my children in hopes of giving them something other than video games. It arrived on a Monday, I set it up and started teaching them names of pieces, how to place them and basic moves. I am no master at the game in any way. By Wednesday they were beating me at the game! They were also correcting me on some things I had forgotten. Like the pawn can move twice on first move... This board comes with everything you need to learn how to play chess. It is a great way to introduce chess to your family. You never know, it might just become a new favourite pastime and great way to connect with your children as you play and learn together.
