We've tried them all, this one is safe, effective, and cuts those hard-to-cut pills, large and small- safely, smoothly and evenly every time. Like anything else made from plastics they are not indestructible, but thankfully they fit in your hand well and dropsies are really infrequent and they live through a counter-level drop 99% of the time. In the past few years, we've had to replace only two of these, and we have four of them in use in our home and around a small animal rescue operation. The first one I received was terrible. It just smashed the pill. I contacted amazon and they quickly sent me another EZ Dose pill cutter. The first one was purple and this one is blue. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. I had one of this type for many years and it basically still works but the pusher part finally broke when a friend jammed and forced it. It stayed sharp and cut fine after an infinite number of pills. The new one they sent works wonderful. The pusher helps to get the pill cut dead center. I've had it several weeks and cut pills daily and it is just wonderful. Tip it over and catch the pills in your hand and do what you want with it. I use one half and leave the other half in the cutter until I use it later in the day. If you want a wonderful pill cutter, get this one. Just don't be in such a hurry that you jam it and then pound it down. This will serve you for many years with a wonderful precision. This is a little medical device and should be handled gently.

This pill cutter makes a nice cut, but it breaks very easily. I bought one in November and it's broken already. I paid a little of $6.00 in November and now price is over $14. I will not be purchasing this item again.

I was a bit worried ordering this cutter, seeing so many reviews stating they had recieved either the actual Ezy Cut or some random one, so I was pleased to get the right one. This is one of the best pill cutters I have ever used. Admittedly, there are a couple ways you can improve your own results. You can't just toss the pill in and expect a perfect cut. My medication, as well as many others, needs exact dosing and we need a reliable cutter to ensure we are getting our proper dosing. Ezy Cut is the answer for me. First you have to push the little orange anchor shaped part against the pill to make sure it is snugly held in place. I see some reviews stating their pill ends up in the back corners of the cutter. The only time that happened to me was before I realized I needed to push the orange peice against the pill. Since doing that, my pill stays right where it is supposed to. Close the top just enough that the blade is just resting on top of the pill, then quickly snap snut. Closing it slowly just caused it to crumble when I tried it that way. If the pill is scored, when resting the blade on the pill, ensure the blade is perfectly, (and I do mean PERFECTLY,) lined up with the score. If it is not, upon cutting, the pill will cut unevenly and much of it will crumble. When properly lined up, i get a perfect cut. Again, this is only my experience, I do not wish to, nor am I attempting to, invalidate anyone else's. So yes, while this pill cutter does need to be used in a precise ways, when used correctly it works very well. The pill pictured was not scored, and as you can see, it was perfectly cut, no crumbles. My only other complaint is that a slight crack formed a few days ago in the front, and i have not had it long.. I cannot feel the crack on either side, which is odd, but hopefully it doesn't get worse. I definitely recommend this cutter over the dozens I have tried. However, the reason I am giving it 4 stars out of 5, is because for those with bad vision, disorders that cause their hands to shake, elderly who may not have assistance with their medication, lining up the pills may be very difficult for them. And really what makes this cutter syand out from others and what gets such optimal results requires secure and proper placement.

Purchased this pill cutter to replace one just like it that had become dull. Unfortunately, the blade in these is not replaceable, so need to buy a whole new one when the sharpness deteriorates. Really like that there is a blade guard that prevents cut fingers and it cuts better than other styles we have tried. It would certainly help if more medicines were scored for cutting which would help pill cutter efficiency. If the new one works as long as the previous one (5 years), it will have been a great price, too even though the top does not always move as smoothly as it should.

**Update** Literally the day I wrote this review the blade broke through the cracked plastic at the top and became unusable. I began searching for a replacement but after deciding that literally every option looked so dang cheap, I didn't want to waste any more money. I simply pushed the top of the blade back through the plastic and then used tape - a lot - to secure where it pushed out. Still works fine. In the age of Amazon I forget that there are simple solutions :) This works fine for me. My pills are not scored, so I have to eyeball the halfway point, but I've gotten good at it. The little lever that "tightens" the pill into place works really well, and that's one of the things that drew me to this one. In my opinion, the blade is not exactly in the middle (i.e. where you want to cut.) I will usually close the lid ever so slightly to the left, and it works. I haven't had it all that long though, about 3 months with use every other day, and the plastic is cracked above the blade from the pressure of the cutting. Anyway, it still does the job and it was pretty cheap. It is helpful that there's a compartment for storing the other half of my pill.

I was just searching for a pill cutter that can cut REALLY small pills. I picked this cutter because it referred to tiny pills. When it arrived I realized it had many other features that I am pleased with. It has a magnifier built in so that when you are looking from the top you get a magnified view of the pill. It has a cover for the blade which retracts when the cover it pulled down on the pill so you don't cut yourself. The area where the pill goes has a little plastic piece that you push until it centers the pill. I like this because my other one just had a sort of flexible rubber piece that I always had to use a mechanical pencil to push the pill towards the blade and it was never centered and then the blade pushed it away while cutting. This one has a rounded plastic piece that keeps the pill centered and you can push it right up to the front so it is braced while cutting. I liked this so much I ordered two! I would give it 6 stars if I could.

I get all my health care from the Veterans Health Care System. My doctors have seen fit to have me take about a dozen pills a day. Several of which must be cut in half. They provided a pill cutter, but it is all plastic with no actual blade and it was a bitch trying to cut any pill that wasn't round. I struggled to find something that would work better. I found this one and, like everything else on Amazon, it had extreme reviews both positive and negative. I decided to try it. I absolutely LOVE how this thing holds the pills. I place a pill of any shape and slide that little gizmo forward to hold the pill steady. I have yet to have a pill be crushed or not be cut in the center. With my old cutter it was always so tedious trying to cut oddly shaped pills. They would either be crushed or the two halves would be no where near the same size. I only have one issue. I can't figure out how to dump the pills. I mean, there is a tray there to dump cut pills into, but they won't dump. They sometimes get stuck near the hinges and I have to shake the thing to get the piece of pill out. I'll figure it out, but it really doesn't matter to me. Since this thing totally eliminates the frustration of trying to center and cut long or oval pills, I'll take it over my old cutter any day. It doesn't seem that sturdy, but it's only job is to slice a pill. How sturdy does it need to be? If I do eventually break this one I'll have no problem buying another. I like it that much. So will you.
