I read this to my 2nd grade classes when we are learning about musical instruments. The rhyming makes it fun and memorable. As I get towards the end, I read all the instruments in 1 breath 😂 A twist on the classic Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly! Review: Great Supplmental Lesson Plan Tool - I am a PK2-5th grade elementary music teacher. This book is FANTASTIC for PreK-2nd Grade kids to introduce many types of orchestral instruments. Extend the lesson by having them raise their hand and try to remember all the instruments the "shy fellow" swallowed. They love to sing along too! The illustrations are great!

What a hoot!
Fun, clever and beautifully illustrated children’s story featuring musical instruments to the rhyme of the old song about the old lady who swallowed a fly.

Fun fantasy about a musical feast!
The illustrations are a bit bizarre, but the story is cute and the rhymes were clever. I will use it in general music class as we introduce the different instruments. Although the book doesn't follow a "logical" progression through the instrument families, as one reviewer noted, I don't think kids will mind.

A Fun Book to Learn the Instruments Orchestra
This is a great book for teaching about the instruments of the orchestra with a sense of humor. The repetitive nature makes it good for young children, especially a Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten music class.

Purchased as a great alternative to There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. I have read and it is great! Purchased for my great nephew (6 wks old) whose father is a professional musician. I anticipate that my nephew will enjoy reading it to him son and as he gets older, his son will enjoy hearing the story.
