Non puoi essere tu: An Italian story of mystery for A2-B1 level learners (Learning Easy Italian) (Italian Edition) Review: Very useful to learn every day language - When I read this, I was already able to read in Italian fairly well. I was a le to read novels written for people whose first language is Italian. What I appreciate in this book is that it taught me the kind of language I would need in everyday conversation. So it is like gaining experience before traveling . The story is cute and entertaining. Thank you very much Sonia. Review: A nice introduction to reading in Italian - I've read this as well as 3 other of the books in this series. This one is the easiest and they gradually get more difficult. The thing I like the most about these books is authentic Italian flavor. I'm living in Italy as I read them and they match what I'm experiencing of Italians and memories of my Italian family. The characters are mostly young adults, usually women, and you read their thoughts as they face strange situations. The other thing I like about the stories is that you truly get interested and want to know what's going to happen next. Each book got a little better and the fourth one (Verità Sepolte) was by far the most interesting to me. Supernatural elements are common in these stories, which adds a sense of mystery at the cost of making things less realistic. The author also has audio versions of some of the books, which she reads herself, via her websites. They are perhaps a little too authentic for me because she speaks so fast. Indeed this has been my experience with many native Italian speakers. On the other hand you have the words right in front of you and you can listen over and over.

Well thought out book for reading and teaching.
It's a nice story that does what the author set out to do; mainly to provide a story to practice reading Italian. The idioms are explained within the text which pleases me a lot. I especially liked that there was a summary at the end of each chapter to recapitulate the chapter. The author does a good job. I look forward to her next book.

Excellent book for learners at my level.
Over the past eleven months I have worked my way through the first and second of the five rounds of the Duolingo Italian course; I do some work each day and start the third round tomorrow. I read this book without much difficulty (one chapter at a time) and think I picked up a fair amount of new appreciation for a number of idioms. I had seen most of the words in the book in one place or another, but reading them in context really helped me with some that I couldn’t quite place at first sight. Very helpful book and a pretty fun (albeit short) ghost story; I just bought the second of the author’s series of books and will start it tomorrow. For me, reading the book via Kindle was imperative; I needed easy access to the link to an Italian dictionary when I didn’t know particular words.

Well written, and compelling in any language!
I highly recommend this book for Italian learners. You can't go wrong, you will learn vocabulary, idioms and grammar, and you will enjoy the story! My issue with reading books to enhance my Italian learning experience has been that if you try to read a standard novel, it's too difficult, and if you instead look to books intended for learners they too focused on the learning part, and are deadly boring. Sonia Ognibene has hit the mark with this short book. It is written in manner that is very useful for learning, but it is also a really good story. I think that even a native Italian speaker would enjoy reading this story! The true measure of a good book. Grazie Sonia. Non vedo l'ora di vedere il tuo prossimo libro! Bravissima!

This is a good book for somebody who is a beginner student
This is a good book for somebody who is a beginner student, but if you are an advance Italian speaker this story is way to simple to follow therefore it becomes very boring. Because it was too simple for me, I did not feel engaged with the main character. The only thing that I really like it is that the writer explains the slang that she used in the book. I was very impressed by that.

Perfect for My Needs!
I bought this book with the goal of improving my Italian in a more natural way than I get with my grammar books. Mystery stories have been proven to help students learn a foreign language because a good (and fun) mystery will naturally motivate readers to keep reading. So Sonia Ognibene's idea for this book was just right. I read it through once, underlining vocabulary or phrasing I didn't know, but not stopping to look anything up. When I finished the book, I went back and reread it, this time looking up the underlined words/phrases. I could get most of them from context, but I wanted to nail everything down for sure. Another plus is that these are slim volumes, so I can carry one in my purse and always have it at hand. I'm so happy with this book that I ordered the next 4 books in her series! They will arrive today! Grazie mille, Sonia!

A fun way to improve your Italian!
Interesting story line. The language used wasn’t to difficult but not so simple that I felt I was reading a children’s book. Liked the use of Italian expression’s.

Good story line at the right level and length, and the in-built coloquial expressions are fantastic as they get you to learn how Italians would actually say something in a particular situation as opposed to a direct language translation. Thank you Sonia for producing such a wonderful book! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will recommend it friends no doubt.

I am learning Italian and the level of this book was just above my present level, so it was really good for me to see new words and phrases. The story held my attention and I did one of the ten chapters every week, trying to get the gist of the words, and then using the inbuilt Italian/English dictionary on my Kindle to highlight a section and see how close I was to the true meaning. The chapters were just the right length to do this. I really enjoyed this book and will be starting the next one in the series very soon. (In addition, the author also teaches Italian very successfully on the ‘Italki’ language learning platform.)
