Janome 2200XT Sewing Machine Sewing Machines

Great little sewing machine for the money. I bought this because I didn't want to spend too much money but wanted a machine that was going to be reliable and have enough settings to do basic craft and refashioning projects at home. I haven't been let down. I have been using this machine for over a year now and I really like it. It comes with a handy instruction booklet that is easy to understand so is great for a beginner or someone who hasn't sewn in a while like me. It also has a troubleshooting section and tips on things like getting the thread tension right, how to use the different stitches, how to wind and install the bobbin, etc. This is the first electric sewing machine I've had (I used to use the old hand-cranked ones), and I was a little worried about whether I would have enough control over the speed. I needn't have worried. It is easy enough to control as the foot pedal is nicely responsive to pressure. If you just want to do one or two stitches though you can turn the wheel by hand to get precision control. The sewing machine itself is heavy enough to feel good quality, but not too heavy meaning it's easy to take out and put away. It also has a really handy little space hidden inside the casing where you can keep spare feet, bobbins etc. The machine comes with a nice selection of basics like spare bobbins, a selection of feet, some oil, a cleaning brush and a stitch unpicker. This meant I didn't need to bother buying these things separately. The machine has a decent variety of stitches and is very easy to use. My only gripe is that the foot pedal feels like it's made from quite cheap plastic, and doesn't feel that sturdy. However it hasn't broken yet! The cable between the machine and the foot pedal is also not very long, so you can't use the machine on a high table. This is worth bearing in mind perhaps if you are tall. Overall good value for money and a nice quality, easy to use machine.

My first sewing machine and I am very pleased. This is easy to use (so far..) and the instruction booklet makes sense ! This machine is quite sturdy but lightweight. It is easy to thread, has a nice variety of stictches and is also a nice looking machine. It comes with a variety of spare 'feet' and some tools and oil for the machine. I bought a 'walking foot' (also available on Amazon) as I'm making a quilt which was easy to install. It also comes with a cover which is nice to have. I did quite a lot of research before choosing this machine but having read reviews on reputable sites such as Good Housekeeping and Which, and a few other reviews, this machine kept popping up as a great entry level machine. Don't waste your money on a cheaper 'toy' that won't allow you to progress as your skill level improves. This will help you learn and progress and will still be a machine you can use at an advanced level. Well worth the money and I would recommend this.

This Janome machine was bought as a replacement for my previous singer machine which failed after very little use . I am very pleased with it ,firstly it’s sturdier doesn’t move around whilst using. It sews perfectly, threading was easy very intuitive. I wasn’t keen on the cover provided ,choosing to use my old one .

What a great sewing machine, very sturdy and easy to use and it runs so smoothly. The instruction booklet is so easy to follow and lost of great accessories with it too. I have only started out sewing and researched lots of different brands of machines, but the Janome had great reviews and now I know why. Its a great machine regardless of your level of experience in sewing and also at a great price. The Janome 2200XT is a great buy and I am so glad I bought a Janome. Its 5 stars from me.

I opened my sewing machine which I ordered on the 3rd of August yesterday the 16th of October as it came too late for the product I wanted to use it for however it will not sew. I have tried everything including changing the needle. I have completely wasted my money. This is the second Janome sewing machine I have had which is why I bought it as the other one was still working but was 30 years old. I wish I’d kept it instead of giving it to My Niece.

I got this as a gift for retirement and was nervous at buying a machine as it is a long time since I used one. I picked this as I had previously had a Janome many years ago. I am so glad I picked it. It is easy to use and can manage even denim alterations. Would definitely recommend for beginners and intermediate sewers.

Great starter sewing machine as it covers most home sewing tasks. Bobbin/threading can be fiddly but other than that no complaints.
