A brilliant piece of kit and worth every penny
I have purchased over the years a range of kitchen knives of various types and makes and none of them seem to be capable of being sharpened once blunt. Ive bought all sorts of sharpening devices - steels, whetstones, carborundum stones, oil stones, hand held grinders and can opener combos andI came to the conclusion that knife sharpening was an exact science and that I was either buying the wrong knives or should just have a buy cheap and dispose once blunt policy I have purchased this sharpener for myself from Lantana through Amazon and then another for my son for Xmas as I was so pleased with mine. Again, It arrived promptly, beautifully packaged and of excellent quality. Its a serious piece of kit. I gathered all my knives from my seriously blunt £100 plus Zwilling and Henckels cooks knife, my Sabatiers, my Procook Gourmet knives, the Victorinox parers, my cheap and cheerfuy blunt Kitchen Devils sat down and set to work, following the instructions to sharpen all these knives, prepared to be disappointed. I was impressed, I got a decent edge on all of them. My Zwilling knives needed some work but they are now restored. The 3 step process really works. The blunter the knife the more filings will be produced. I washed the knives carefully and then gave them a polish with a soft cloth. Ive now got a range of knives to choose from. This is one of the best kitchen purchases I have ever made. Everyone should have one of these. So easy to use, a really good, useful product at a very reasonable price. I will be buying more for presents. No wonder the firm is confident in their product. I have a sit down knife polishing session once a fortnight. Very therapuetic with a glass of wine! One word of warning. This device is not suitable for sharpening serrated edges..they tell you that you can sharpen widely spaced serrated knives such as bread knives but I didnt find this the case. They will not go through the number 2 slot without some force, so you could not only damage the knife but also the sharpener. You cant sharpen shears or scissors with this device either so dont get rid of your whetstone! Some Japanese knives like Global also do not sharpen well with this kind of sharpener...but Victorinox and Procook become lethally sharp. Be warned!

Fantastic Sharpener
This sharpener is so easy to use. I noticed a big difference between the single V sharpeners I started from one to 3 and the knife was ultra sharp.

Great sharpener
Bought this to replace an old, smaller, simpler sharpener. This is amazing! Easy to use. Sharpens well. Just ordered another one as a present

Does a good job
I've had a few knife sharpening gadgets over the years and they always seemed to end up getting chucked away. But with my kitchen knives becoming blunter and blunter I gave in to optimism and tried this one. Very glad I did, all my kitchen knives are really sharp again. I now keep this gizmo on the work top by my knife block so that I can run a knife through it a few times every so often to keep them sharp and not let them gradually go blunt again. The sharpener is nicely made with a good handhold. Easy to use, simple v shapes inset in slots that you just pull the knife backwards through. One thing I've found is that it is easier when you do draw the knife through with the point angled slightly down (and it feels as though the grind is more effective too). When I first worked on my very dull knives I gave each blade 20 pulls through the 'coarse' grinder followed by 20 through the 'fine' grinder. This worked extremely well. Since then I've reduced the number of times I draw the knife through. Now I just do 5-6 'pulls' on a knife to keep the blades very sharp. Testing the blade by (only) touching my thumb against it I can feel how sharp the blade is now and I've been cutting through anything and everything again with ease. So, not the cheapest sharpener on offer, but based on the build, ease of use and results I've achieved I'm very happy to recommend it.

NOT for All Knives
Should have paid closer attention to product description!! Buried deep down in all the blurb is a caveat about certain knives NOT being suitable. The sharpener worked far better than I thought, but not on my originally intended GLOBAL knives!! Blade angle is 12 degrees and too acute for the sharpener. Angle starts at 15 degrees upto 29 degrees.
