Pebeo Setasilk Gutta 147-002 - Aqueous Base Paint for Silk (20 ml), Assorted Colors , White

Great product but have given it a 4 as you can't get a fine point on it as it relies on you cutting off the top of the tube. It would be great to have a version in a syringe style so you could squeeze the product out more easily and precisely. Having said that however, the product is functional and am please with the resistance it offers on silk.

Does what it says

I used it to mask out some of the blue representing sea because I wanted to put down yellow to give the effect of the sun shining on the water. I am no expert but I was quite pleased with my result.

I usually use either salt technique or tie dye for my silk painting but it was not suitable for the garment in question. I was a little nervous about using Gutta for the first time but it was great & once you got the hang of it not that hard. I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks of trying it. The important thing I found was to prepare properly not start till you were ready to do it all & take your time.

Great product, does the job, good value

Works well when applied thickly, you need a finer nib to stop it going blobby (available separately) when it is applied too thinly the colour leaks.

Does what it should and arrived in good time.

I found the tube difficult to use with accuracy. It was quite difficult to maintain a constant pressure on the tube to get an even flow of product onto the silk. Press too hard and the gutta squeezed out in blobs, not hard enough and the gutta wouldn't form a continuous and even line. This problem became more noticeable as the the metal tube emptied and flattened. The gutta also affected the handle of the silk and made it feel stiff, which was a shame.

I was able to apply this resist to the silk straight from the tube with no drips and very few unwanted stray lines (I have a weak grip, so these lines are not the fault of the product).

Though I love the applicator, the gutta doesn't work very well, even when set as instructed. Lots of bleeding through a thin line.

Nicht gut

Love this gutta. It has this glitter like quality that adds dimension to lines. It has an even consistency and lines don't break. It cures beautifully and adheres to fabric. Love it
