Yes it works find with Linux. The kernel will detect the USB transmitter and the trackball works perfectly well under Linux. I've used mine for over 12 months and never had a problem with it. (Debian GNU/Linux with the KDE desktop version's 7 and the soon to be released version 8.The left and right buttons do left and right button things, the centre scroll wheel scrolls and acts as the middle button, exactly as you would expect on any X based system. The two extra buttons also work - though I don't use them much.

Is this any better than the older version? I'm still using that and OK just wondering if this is better?

Additional pluses. Having the ability to tilt the mouse and having two angled options makes it even more ergonomic. Little button to select 2 tracking speeds for the marble is a winner. The normal setting is the same as Trackman of old and the slow setting gives unrivalled precision. It also feels considerably more robust than M370.

had mine for 7 months and been brill. lately despite cleaning suffering from unusable judder. Upgraded to latest driver no help, any suggestions

I solved this problem by removing the ball, cleaning the inside with sellotape, then cleaning the ball with sellotape. This removes all the grease and even though it feels tacky first use this wears off and it's like new again.

Hi Artur. No - the usb wire is only for charging. The connection is wireless using either an included USB dongle or BlueTooth.
