Recognised by many critics as a cinematic masterpiece, this unforgettable motion picture has also been recognised by The American Film Institute as one of the "Top Ten" epics of all time. From its Academy Award®-winning director* and revolutionary Oscar®-winning special effects** to its memorable music score and all-star cast, The Ten Commandments presents the story of Moses in all of its stunning glory. Starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter and a "who's who" of legendary screen talent, the film was nominated for seven Academy Awards®, including Best Picture of 1956***. Now available for the first time ever on Blu-ray and restored to a stunning new visual experience, The Ten Commandments can be relived in the best picture and sound possible.Special Features:Commentary by Katherine Orrison, author of Written in Stone: Making Cecil B. Another great epic from the golden age of Hollywood cinema. The image of the blu-ray looks Restored and looks great! Vivid colors, super details, and Nice contrast and blacks level. Review: Superb film, a little camp in places but a great way to pass an afternoon - A classic of cinema. The glorious presentation with classic intermission half way through, the glorious rich colour and stunning acting. Like many I have no interest in religion but I do love the Bible stories I grew up with in school. For me the stand out role was Yule Brinner's portrayal of the pharoah, especially the scene where he has to confront the truth that his young son is dead and he begins to quesiton his own faith in his own gods, all the while his wife is mocking him, just two superb actors playing roles to perfecyion. I like the overall story I find Heston to be competent but he seems to have been cast simply as "beefcake eye-candy" during Moses' earlier life, ripped shirt and bronzed complexion. Later in the film with the white beard and hair he simply looks a little too "local church production" for my liking, you half expect his beard to have those little wire hooks holding it on! A great film to pass a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, get some snacks in and just while away a few hours enjoying a classic piece of overdone American cinema, classic!

One of the great movies!
I remember seeing this film on it's cinema release years ago but had missed the numerous TV showings. I don't like to watch films interrupted by commercial breaks anyway so thought it was about time I invested in the DVD release. I am glad I did. The film is just as vibrant and dramatic as I remembered, well acted and directed with towering performances from the leads and supporting actors. Charlton Heston as Moses and Yul Brynner as Rameses are the ideal pairing, sparking off one another in the early Egyptian scenes and developing as the film progresses. The special effects are still good although perhaps a little primitive compared to todays computer generated offerings but you don't buy this film for the effects only, the story and acting are enough to make the movie worthwhile viewing. The approach is respectful to the biblical story, almost reverential in tone, which makes a refreshing change from todays more sceptical or downright cynical view of biblical history. Whether one believes this is a depiction of actual events or simply a fiction it is a great movie experience and well recommended.

The ten commandments steelbook is a 10/10
This has been one of my favourite movies for over 40 years and I have it on all platforms but when I received it on 4K I was blown away ,I mean the steelbook was already amazing and looks really nice. The 4K disc however is a whole different story....for a movie from 1956 that is nearly 4 hours long it's an unbelievable achievement to make it look this good ,it simply is beautiful and will most likely be my most valued possession in my collection. If you love this movie and you are doubting to upgrade your Bluray........all I can say is " Thy shall not doubt about purchasing this incredible movie on 4K" Seriously,it's an amazing experience.....movie 10/10..... 4K transfer 10/10....and the steelbook 10/10..... Go buy it

Epic, ambitious, awesome!
I was delighted to track this down after seeing it decades ago. Unbeatable. The lives of Egyptian royalty and Hebrew slaves are displayed in the sharpest possible contrast, so that the victory of the underdogs over the mighty empire is extraordinarily miraculous. The cast must run into thousands, on a scale we do not see today. Most historical facts seem faithfully portrayed. The Mount Sinai and desert scenes are such a contrast to the luxury of the Egyptian court for Moses, who takes a common wooden staff in place of a royal sceptre. The many miracles are skilfully shown within the confines of film making. The death of the firstborn is harrowing, but Rameses fails to exact revenge against the God of Israel Who parts the sea in an iconic scene never equalled since. Put your feet up for a few hours and find new inspiration in life!
