Well made and sturdy - a gift at the price
This is a really excellent hand mixer and does a superb job. I was looking at kitchen aids and Kenwood chefs but to be honest I really needed something a little more compact for the size of our kitchen. The Chefette is a perfect size and takes up little room when sitting on its stand but the bowl is really quite large and can cope with anything I throw at it. I was pleased to find also that it has the facility to auto rotate and it's certainly a useful option as the mixer can sit whirring away whilst you are adding ingredients. So far I've done cakes, bread and meringues in my chefette and have been exceptionally happy with the results. I'd consider myself an advanced bread baker and this unit is a lifesaver when doing wetter mixes. I'd counsel people not to go over a 600g flour mix though as it tends to struggle a bit. The unit is very sturdy and well made. It has the feel of an expensive, strong mixer and fits snugly into its stand. The bowl cover is really useful for stopping flour flying all over the kitchen too! The only thing I am unsure about are the nylon gears on the beaters. These are part of the bowl turning mechanism and if you get too ambitious by filling the bowl too full with a heavy mix they tend to slip. I'm not convinced they won't need replacing at some point but take the view that pretty much any mixer you buy will include parts that are going to wear eventually. That having been said it is designed so that you can fit the beaters in the opposite holes and the gears don't engage. This means the bowl doesn't turn automatically but the unit will still work well. Overall I'm really happy with my purchase and glad to get rid of the cheapie mixer I had before.

Top marks for affordability and quality!
I am so pleased with this mixer. It replaced a basic hand-held mixer that gave up the ghost recently. I was eyeing up something of the KitchenAid class, as I was getting fed up with the amount of icing sugar and flour dust on my work top every time I was making a cake. I thought the Kenwood combined mixer was too much of a good deal to not give it a go, and also I have been extremely impressed with their mini mixer which is a permanent feature on my kitchen worktop for a few years now. The mixer is very well designed and good quality. The hand-held part of the mixer clicks easily into the main body. The positioning of the mixing attachments into the bowl is offset nearer the side of the bowl. This is really clever as it allows for even mixing of the ingredients and minimal requirement for scraping off mixture off the sides of the bowl. The bowl comes with a removable clear hard plastic cover which instantly sorted out my previous issues with dust caused by icing sugar or flour. There are 2 sets of mixing attachments depending of the type of baking, a spatula and an instruction booklet. The mixer has 5 speeds and a pulsating option and feels very powerful indeed. There is a lever at the back of the arm of the main body which allows for the mixer to be lifted when you need to remove the bowl from its position. The bowl is made of stainless steel and feels and looks really good quality. An added bonus is the whole mixer is compact and easy to store on a worktop or in a cupboard with the el. cable neatly tucked away around the back of the hand held part of the mixer. Overall very pleased with this product. I was toying with the idea of spending more but pleased to have found such a reasonably priced appliance which delivers on all levels. The cakes I have made so far with it have turned out fantastic. Easy to clean too.

Served me well so far
This stand/hand mixer has served me well so far. I’m not a serious baker but mostly occasional baker and this works well for that. except for the bowl and the beater everything else is plastic which helps with the weight if you want to move it often but also makes the mixer unusable when running especially at higher speeds or with higher amounts. With smaller batches, this mixer is very good. It is dishwasher safe making it very easy to clean as well.

An excellent little mixer.
I am so pleased to find a decent mixer which doesn't completely dominate my kitchen. Some of the top of the range mixers are huge, but this is a lovely size. Doesn't take up too much room in a cupboard, and not too heavy to lift in and out of the cupboard if, like me, you have a small kitchen with insufficient worktop to leave it out all the time. A very nice touch is the revolving bowl which sits slightly off centre so the beaters can reach all parts of the bowl. The beaters reach right down to the bottom of the bowl - well as close as they can without actually touching, so between this and the revolving bowl there is very little mixture that escapes the beaters, you don't have to keep stopping the mixer to scrape the contents of the bowl into the middle. Another very useful 'extra' is the clear plastic cover which slots over the bowl so no clouds of flour all over the kitchen. It seems quite a powerful machine, I've only used it twice for cake making and the number 2 setting was plenty. It certainly mixes very well and both cakes were successful using the all-in-one method (a la Mary Berry)! There is a pulse setting if needed. Easily cleaned with the attachments and bowl able to go in the dishwasher. I just rinse the plastic guard under the tap though as hard plastic items tend to craze and starting cracking after a while. I bought this to replace a 30 year-old Krups hand mixer, and I didn't realise until I got this one just how heavy a handheld mixer gets after a while, so having the flexibility of a handheld and the convenience of the stand feels like a luxury!

A nifty little mixer.
A nifty little mixer. I had been looking for a basic mixer akin to the simple ones of the 60's and 70's and this fitted the bill perfectly. Don't underestimate this little machine, it makes a lovely cake, whips up cream a treat, and makes a lovely batter. The bowl rotates as it is mixing, and if i just put my spatula against the side as it does so it comes away from the edges and gets mixed in a treat. It also has a splatter guard which prevents you from getting covered when it is mixing, Flour can still be an issue so I just put a tea cloth over the splatter guard and it's fine. Very easy to clean, you just click the beaters out for the washing along with the bowl, and give the mixer a quick wipe down. It's small enough not to take up to much room on the side, and it's light enough to be able to lift away into a cupboard. I love this little machine and would recommend it.

Great machine
This is a small effective mixer which i really like using and my boys toy. It has a counter rotating mixer paddles which are good at getting to all the mixture even at the bottom of the bowl. The bowl rotates whilst mixing so everything gets mixed. It has several speed setting. I have no trouble mixing butter cream icing even when the butter is not very soft. The bowl is brushed steel which looks great but needs a plastic spatula to avoid scratching it. They provide a spatula which is shaped to fit the contour of the bowl which is very good at scraping the bowl clean of mixture without leaving much needing to be washed of. I particularly like the plastic lid which optionally can be put on the bowl when mixing to contain the contents - it means clean kitchen with no mess even when I let my 9 year old use it to do her cakes. The only downside is the catch to lift the paddles up is a bit tight/ stiff so needs an adult to do it although help keep control of mess if children are involved. It comes with a selection of paddles.

40 years on!
I bought this as a replacement for a Kenwood Chefette bought as a wedding present for me over forty years ago. The mixer still works well but the bowl, which was well used, finally cracked a few years ago and I threw it away. I will be making cupcake bouquets for my son's wedding and I need to make a lot of buttercream, but did not want to do it holding the old mixer. I researched available options and decided to replace my old one with another of the same make. I am so pleased with the new model, it is well made and sturdy not cheap and flimsy like some on the market. The stainless steel bowl, dough hooks and plastic cover are welcome refinements and although I have only used it twice it seems just as reliable as my original mixer. My daughter bakes every week and usually buys whatever make is the cheapest model on offer when she needs a replacement- in her case every 2/3 years! She is looking for a new one now and after borrowing mine she is so impressed that she is going to buy one also. Like so many other things in life 'you get what you pay for'

Nice and compact
My mum still has her Kenwood mixer after many years but it’s too bulky and heavy, so after seeing this Kenwood for half the price I just had to buy it but how disappointed was I. When I first put it on, I found it too noisy and it started to get hot after just a few minutes off mixing. So glad I only paid half price or I would have sent it back.
