Magic between the pages
I fell in love with the dead romantics when it first came out and I was so eager to read the seven year slip when I read the synopsis, and while this book was slow to start for me the pay off was absolutely incredible. I’m fully convinced Ashley poston weaves magic through her pages because by the end I was completely spellbound. I not only adore this book (and the dead romantics ) but often find myself months(years in the case of dead romantics)later thinking of clementine, Iwan, Florence and benji they live rent free in my head and I’m definitely not mad about it. I honestly spent the last 50 pages reading through a flood of tears they would not stop falling I also don’t think I’ve every read from an author that captures grief quite as real as in here it really does make for a magical but heartbreaking read. Beautiful writing and beautiful story one that I’m certain will stay with me for a very long time I received a a-arc from the publisher via netgalley thoughts are my own

A time loop romance
The Seven Year Slip has intrigued me for so long and after several glowing reviews from my friends, I had to give it a go as I haven't read from Ashley Poston before. I'm in love with the genre mix of romance with magical realism and Ashley Poston definitely knows what she is doing. This was so charming, I actually felt giddy when I was reading this. I also love chef romances so that was a massive plus with this storyline. Unfortunately though it just doesn't feel like a 5-star for me, it felt like something was missing but I can't pinpoint it. Perhaps it was the plotting and pace for me that didn't quite work. However I definitely think there is a 5-star book out there from Ashley Poston so I will be continuing with her backlist for sure. 4.5 stars (rounded down to 4 on Amazon)

loved it!
Second read by Ashely and I absolutely loved it. I’ve put off reading her books for so long because popular TikTok books I never find worth the hype, but I’m kicking myself. Totally worth the hype and more. I loved the story nothing like I had ever read before, so unique, I enjoyed the characters ,and liked the little cameo by Benji who was the MMC in the Dead Romantics . Only 2 books in and she’s already one of my fave Autors. They say you can get lost in a book, I did and it was the best time of my life

Gives me The Lake House vibes
Clementine is having a crisis, her beloved aunt died suddenly six months ago, leaving Clementine her New York apartment. Clementine can barely bring herself to stay in an apartment that holds so many precious memories of her bohemian, enchanting, magical aunt, and yet she paradoxically can't even force herself to get out of bed. She and her aunt loved to travel, all over the world, on a whim pretty much saying 'yes' to any new experience on offer. Returning home after a rare evening out with friends to try the new 'IT' restaurant from an up-and-coming darling of the fine dining scene, Clementine is horrified to find a strange man in her apartment's kitchen. Once she's calmed down enough to talk to the man (and confirm he's not an axe murderer), she discovers that his mother is a friend of her aunt's and her aunt agreed to let him stay in the apartment while she was in Europe for a few months. Only problem is, Clementine was with her aunt on that trip, which was seven years ago! The apartment appears to be capricious, not letting Clementine return to the present day one minute and not letting her return to the past the next. But over the summer she starts to fall for the Southern guy with a drawl and his big dreams of being a chef one day. Clementine's aunt always said the apartment was magical, and hinted that she too had had a time slip romance. I loved this, so many layers to unpick, grief, betrayal, time-travel, ambition, love.

Beautiful & raw
This was beautiful, such a raw deception of grief and self healing. It shows the true importance of letting go of the past and living for the now. “Sometimes the people you loved left you halfway through a story. Sometimes they left you without a goodbye.” As someone who has lost a loved one this was so poetic and authentic. Clementine and Iwan are beautiful characters. Iwan is charming, he gives me golden retrievers vibes and he got a lemon flower tattooed over his heart 😭 Clementine, their love and patience speaks volumes she’s not perfect but that makes her even more real. She struggles with grief and is stuck with a world without direction. I really enjoyed her development throughout, seeing her reach a cross roads but eventually pursing something she loves

4.25⭐
This was such a cute story! I loved that the conflict wasn’t too conflicty, it was rather chill and everyone handled everything so well. I loved how calm the vibe of the book was, how low stakes it was, it was a great change of pace for me. The characters were very lovable, not annoying at all. Their flaws made them all the more lovable. It was also a sweet journey through dealing with grief after the loss of a loved one, written in a beautiful way.
