Fantastic set of scales which are well worth the money, and in my case (painfully) accurate!
Well I have had my eye on these scales for such a long time but was put off by the £180 price tag. I took the plunge and ordered them last week, and now they're in my possession I can happily say I needn't have worried or hesitated because in my opinion they are well worth the money. As soon as I took them out of the box they looked special and I was very happy with the feel and the build quality of them. It was pretty simple to set it up and get started. It uses four AA batteries which are supplied and easily fitted. The next step is set the date and time before entering your data into one of four user profiles, which was again very simple and took no time at all. Once your data is in you need to grab hold of the hand set and step onto the scales so it can record all your data, which it will then save to the user profile you just inputted. After this, each time you step onto the scale it will recognise you without you having to get your user profile up beforehand which saves time. The results on the scale are really comprehensive giving you BMI, total body fat %, segmental body fat % and muscle mass for each arm, leg and the trunk; total muscle mass, bone density, BMR (in calories and kJ), visceral fat rating, body water %, metabolic age and physical rating. Prior to buying these scales I have been taking measurements of my waist, hips, forearm and wrist and then entering the info alongside my personal stats into a calculator I found online to get my body fat but I was never convinced I was measuring right or that the figure I got back was right. Now I have these scales I know I have something I can trust. Just by reading through the manuals/leaflets that come with it you can see that a number hasn't just been plucked out of the air and so far the readings have all been very consistent and if I'm honest, if I look at the whole picture and at my own physique, the combination of the readings paints a pretty accurate picture of what I see and what I already know, so it is great to have the info in numbers as it gives a baseline to work from. When I first went on it I was disappointed as my body fat % was higher than I expected and other measures were not as good as I'd hoped so it was a reality check. Metabolic age was a shocker, even though I admit I'm out of shape at the moment and trying to get my fitness back. So anyone thinking of getting these scales just brace yourself for what they may tell you as it might not be what you want to see or hear and as I say it truly is a reality check. However, in my case other results were re-assuring. Even though I was disappointed my body fat was higher than I wanted it to be I was happy to see that my visceral fat rating was pretty low and using these scales has served to motivate me to really continue in my quest to lose weight (and keep it off this time!), get fit and continue to put the effort in with the gym and diet. I am also impressed by how quickly the scales record all of the data. In a matter of seconds you have a reading. Also, when I ordered the scales I thought they only measured in kg but in actual fact you can get lbs and stones by pressing the button on the back of the scales. Each time you click it cycles between kg, lbs and stones. If you're not careful you'd miss it and not even realise it was there so that was a bonus find. I would heartily recommend these scales to anybody. If like me you are really into health and fitness and healthy eating but are a slave to the scales, whose enthusiasm and motivation is easily knocked if you can't see progress on the scales, regardless of whether you may be progressing in other ways such as losing inches or getting fitter etc and want cold hard facts to spur you on then these are the scales for you, believe me! I was torn between these and the Tanita BC543 but I decided that it was worth the extra money for the hand electrodes and the segmental readings etc otherwise in 6 months time I'd have probably ended up buying these anyway. So all I can say is go for it, you won't be disappointed! EDIT: I should also add the customer service at Amazon is fantastic. Within 7 days of me purchasing the scales the price dropped significantly and they refunded me the difference when I contacted them. So keep an eye on the price before you buy as they do drop sometimes by £30-£50 and then go back to around £180, so be aware. Well worth it at £180 and an absolute bargain when they drop in price.

Fantastic Toy and fantastic service from Amazon
Finally I got one. :-) I had my first fast delivery on monday, but when I got it to work, I found out that it was faulty it didn't give te segmental reading as soon I measure my weight, on the screen came up with lines and soon after switched off, without any reading I contacted Amazon, explained the issues and without hesitation the sent me another replacement the next day I sent the faulty scales back in no time and next day I got the replacement I got my Scale on tuesday, got it to work, and it WoW me big time. It does what it says on the tin and as I am Study Nutrition and Personal Trainer, this tool is going to be very handy for what I want to do. I am on track with my weight loss and fitness level and this scale will give me an idea of the results I need for the price I paid is a good piece of kit to have, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is into fitness like myself overall I Am very satisfied so far with the scales and of course with the service Thank you Amazon UK, keep up the good work,

Body stats for data collectors
Body composition scales will be of interest primarily to people working out in the gym, or doing endurance training for running or cycling. They are helpful for those losing weight and checking whether they are losing muscle content by restricting calories, and also the amount of visceral fat. You may remember Dr. Michael Mosley - author of the Fast Diet - having high viseral fat even though he wasn't particularly large around the waist. I'm gradually returning to training after surgery and I can see that in seven days my weight has increased from 69.9kgs to 70.2kgs. However that small increase is made up of a reduction in overall body fat from 8.3% to 6.9%, and an increase in overall muscle from 60.9kgs to 62.1kgs. I can then see that the biggest changes are in the trunk with 0.8kgs of additional muscle and a 2% reduction in fat. So my return to training is on the right track. Note that although I use kilograms, a small switch on the underside - ease to miss - selects weight measurement in kilograms, pounds and, stones and pounds. These scales provide 20 measurements that are shown on a screen. Previous measurements can also be recalled but unlike the Tanita BC 601, it doesn't have the facility to download that data to a computer. If you're in training you'll be used to keeping a log and this data will be an essential part of that, so it will need to be copied by hand. It was the absence of a link to a computer that made a difficult choice between these scales and the BC 601, made harder by Amazon significantly dropping the price of the Omron BF511 scales. I choose the BC 545N scales as Amazon were selling them cheaply as it was an opened box. I had planned to set up graphs to show the data; however, Tanita.com (not the UK site) have a free download of Healthy Edge Lite software that can produce graphs easily from the entered body and segmental data. Measurements are taken quickly and appear to be accurate, if fact Tanita claim that their measurements are close to professional methods such as DEXA. A recent test of body composition scales published in Mens Health Magazine gave them top marks. It can be confusing reading the results as it's easy to recall previous measurements by mistake, and I had a few choice words to say the first few times that I used them. They are very expensive but they do meet a need. I find them really useful to determine what has caused weight loss or gain. The high point for me aged 66 was my metabolic age of 51, so I'm sure that they're accurate!

What’s this ?
I am so frustrated I bought this after all my research. Firstly the numbers pass by so quickly you don’t realise almost anything.. It costs 200 but doesn’t store them in the phone/ipad as you must pay the 500 value of another scale of the company to have them stored. I also press the result button and nothing comes up so overall is not easy to use as well. I took some color of the box so I don’t think I ll be refunded as well so won’t make the effort to go to the post office . A total loss , I will have to order another brand now and repay

Could never get the scale to store user info for the next use. Instructions did not include how to find user info. After 3 months scale reported only about 75% of actual weight. Avoid this product at all costs.
