good quality and size
Good stuff, good size for seedlings which is my primary use. I was going to buy a 100L bag which is obviously more cost effective but thinking about how much I'll need and storage I went for this one. The bag is not resealable which may be an issue but I always transfer to a container along with my other potting mixes and store under the bench. If you don't have that luxury it may be an issue. Overall the product is of good quality, in a durable bag and a perfect size for seedlings or blending with potting mix.

Vermeculite for Plants - A Game Changer!
So, what is Vermiculite? It’s a natural, non-toxic, and sustainable alternative to peat moss and perlite. It's made from the mineral vermiculite, which is rich in nutrients and helps to improve soil structure, drainage, and aeration. I've been using Vermeculite in my plant babies' soil for a few years now, and the results are nothing short of amazing! My seedlings are thriving, and I've noticed a significant improvement in their growth and overall health. Here are some of the benefits I've experienced: Improved drainage: Vermeculite is incredibly lightweight and helps to prevent waterlogging, which can be detrimental to plant growth. Better aeration: The vermiculite particles help to break up the soil and improve air circulation, which promotes healthy root growth and overall plant health. Increased nutrient retention: Vermeculite has a high cation exchange capacity, which means it can retain and release nutrients as needed, providing a steady supply for your plants. Reduced transpiration: By improving soil structure and aeration, Vermeculite helps to reduce transpiration, which can help to prevent overwatering and promote healthy plant growth. I could go on and on about the benefits of Vermeculite, but I'll sum it up by saying it's a must-have for any plant parent! It's easy to use, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly. In conclusion, I highly recommend Vermeculite for plants to anyone looking to improve their plant babies' soil and promote healthy growth. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed!

Mine was fine grade
This is perfectly good vermiculite, but I wish sellers/producers would list the grade size on the bags or in product info. This is fine grade, at least mine was - maybe my bag was filled from the bottom of whatever container bags are filled from. I am confused, because the bulk bags by Plant It seem to be far bigger particle size than in the smaller bag I got. Either this bag was an exception, or they do 2 grades, and sell the larger grade only in bigger bags... Based on the varied answers to questions, I thought this would be medium grade, but mine is definitely fine grade, sized between 1 - 3 mm, of which I already have a bag. I suppose the clue is in the picture on the front of the bag: it shows seedlings, and fine grade is usually used for seed germination. Vermiculite is good for covering seeds and adding to compost as it holds water and nutrients. It also aids with aeration and drainage of the soil, although perlite is probably better for that. I add both perlite and vermiculite to a lot of compost mixes (I think between 10-30% is usually added), and use fine grade vermiculite for seed sowing. I either cover the seeds in vermiculite, or for fine seeds, you can mix them with vermiculite to aid even dispersal. I wanted medium grade vermiculite to add to compost mixes, for which you can use the fine grade, but for mixes with larger (and even) particle size, fine grade is no good. If you want (probably) fine grade (although one buyer said this was medium grade), then this is a good product. If you want medium grade, this is not it, if my bag was typical.

Excellent material but this is quite coarse
One of two products that serve the same functions; both can be used alone to germinate seeds or in a mix with peat or coir as a growing medium for seedlings and cuttings. Both are fairly inexpensive. Vermiculite was the product first recommended by a more experienced gardener and has been used ever since, initially in a small pack sufficient for a very few pots although then mixed with peat. Available in various bag sizes and particle size, the material is inherently light but fairly bulky in larger quantities which will then need significant storage space. Personally currently used only when potting, a smaller 5 litre bag of almost sand-like particle size had lasted 3 years but now requires replacement. It was recently suggested that, mixed equally with coir, it can be used to improve our local clay-heavy soil by providing far better aeration and drainage within a very small plot. This is a far coarser particulate than previously used with much of it 5 - 10mm in size. Whether the greater coarseness will affect current practices, rooting or growth rates, watering frequency etc, will require some time to ascertain, especially as there is about 1 litre of the finer material yet to be used and which will be reserved for planting out etc. With a few plants on order and yet to arrive at the time of review, this will be used with coir as a base liner when transplanting. It is something that will not grow stale or become unusable if stored for very long periods. For economy, purchase the largest quantity you can store. Possibly due to settlement and further granulation, the bag appears half-empty and unexpectedly small but 50 or 100 litres was too large a quantity to order for our needs.

Note that this vermiculate is a very small, fine grade
Just make sure you want a very fine grade vermiculite. I didn't realise and was a little too fine for what I wanted, but would be ideal for seed sowing.
