These are so yummy. I love the different flavors (black sugar is my fave). I only wish there were more and they were a little bigger.

These 5 flavors of Yokan are the best store-bought bean jellies I’ve eaten since first enjoying them with my friends Yumiko, who has studied the classic green tea ceremony. You shout enjoy them with tea or coffee. The plastic foil pouches are wrapped in individual paper sleeves, as these bite-sized servings have to be squeezed out of the pouch with your lips gently sucking. The pouches have a safety warning so you don’t get cut on their sharp edges! The product inside will be one of five different types:: three are smooth, the other two have little lumps of whole beans in them. The dark reddish brown sleeve has SHOZU made from plain smooth red bean paste. The light yellow sleeve contains OGURA, with little lumps of white adzuki beans in the red bean paste. The brownish khaki sleeve has OKINAWA BROWN SUGAR in the red bean paste, with little lumps of red beans here and there. The dark green sleeve contains MATCHA powder in its smooth white bean paste. The brownish orange wrapper has HOUJICHA in its smooth white and red bean paste, with a roasted green powder. Though it may be a shame to put such small exquisite sweets in such a lot of packaging (especially as the plastic foil pouches cannot be recycled in my town), this fresh bean jelly is fine for picnics or traveling, with the paper sleeves keeping the pouches clean so you can suck out a little bite of jelly to make your coffee or tea happy company.
