Own every episode of every series in this complete collection of hit series Quantum Leap. Get ready to join Dr. Sam Beckett on the adventure of many lifetimes! Who will he be this time? Mafia hitman. Air Force test pilot. Professional boxer. Sam does it all this groundbreaking, 5-time Emmy award-winning series.Scott Bakula plays Sam Beckett, a time traveller who never knows whose body he is going to "leap" into next or at what moment in history he may find himself. Sam is joined by a helpful but easily distracted holographic guide, Al (Dean Stockwell), who assists him on his missions and aids Sam in him ultimate goal of returning to his own life in the present. Review: A classic that deserves a larger audience - I became an avid fan of Quantum Leap when it was first aired on TV. Having bought the box set for myself for Christmas I am now introducing it to my teenage children as we work our way through many hours of excellent family viewing. The idea of a scientist who leaps from one body to another during different periods in his lifetime enables the makers of the series to show off a wide variety of genres from the 1950s to the 1970s - with classic clothing, cars and scenery to match. It tackles sometimes challenging issues - Southern States segregation, prejudice against the Japanese, the horror of Vietnam, blindness, women establishing themselves in the workplace, gang violence - as well having fun with topics like the birth of Rock and Roll, a college fraternity house and 70s disco. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) is a rather untypical "action hero", as a scientist with lots of hidden talents who is also very handy in a fight and contrasts with his buddy Al (Dean Stockwell), who materialises in holographic form to advise Sam on what to do, partly based on information from a temperamental computer (Ziggy), but also relying on Al's vast experience of life, including life in an orphanage, being captured in Vietnam and more marriages than he can remember. Together they make a great team. Sam often gets to kiss some beautiful women, while Al's tangled love life sometimes distracts him from being there when Sam needs him most. The episodes where Sam leaps into a woman's body are some of the most entertaining as Scott Bakula in drag is anything other than feminine. The characters are great, the cast is well selected and the acting excellent. So far, apart from one "horror" episode (where the devil appears as Al which was rather disturbing) they follow a pattern of: (a) Sam arrives somewhere new and has to get to grips with who he is, where he is, and what he is here to do (b) Sam is faced with one or more challenges to overcome - sometimes not always the ones you might expect - and often a particular individual he has to stand up to (c) Sam's extensive experience as multi talented scientist with a historical perspective and ju-jitsu skills enable him to overcome the challenge - usually with thrills and spills along the way (d) Against the odds, he changes someone's life for the better and their future is transformed (e) Just when he is kissing the girl, he leaps onto his next challenge. These programmes have a real "feel good" factor and it's nice to find a series that I can watch with my wife and children which all of us can enjoy, while getting an insight into late 20th century America. The only thing that surprises me is that I've never seen any repeats of the series before, either on good old fashioned analogue TV or on Freeview. It definitely deserves a wider audience. Review: Great package for an amazing tv series - I used to watch Quantum Leap when it started on TV, it was part of after school ritual, the show was so unique from others in that every episode was different and you never really knew what was going to happen next. The main characters Sam and Al are so well acted by both actors that it makes it hard to only watch one episode at a time, the stories are always interesting which is so rare to find in a modern tv show. The picture quality of the DVDs are very good and look very sharp when upscaled on my Blu-Ray player, I am looking forward to introducing my children to this wonderful series, if you are looking for a quality family or sci-fi show you can`t go wrong with Quantum Leap. Great transfer and quality tv, I can`t wait to start watching it from the beginning again.

one giant leap......
Wow! First of all a MASSIVE thank you to Amazon and Everythingsfantastic for such a speedy delivery. As stated in my feedback i wasn't expecting this item until after the 4th of October so imagine my gobsmacked face when it turned up on the 1st!!! Just 2 days after placing the order!! Anyway, i haven't seen any of the episodes yet, this review is based on what i remember some 20 odd years ago when it was first aired on TV and, next to "The X-Files" it's one of the best TV shows of the 1990's, the episodes varying every week from hilarious, weird, and all of them utterly fantastic, not knowing where, when, or sometimes how (!), he was going to turn up. Watching the discs will only enhance my viewing pleasure by conjuring up those memories of a truly brilliant TV show. If you haven't seen it, or are indeed too young to remember it then i can heartily reccomend it to anyone and everyone. Thanks again Amazon for the speedy delivery, this is one happy chappy!! :)

Great purchase and I am so glad to have this ...
Great purchase and I am so glad to have this wonderful show in my collection. It is great to have time at home to switch off after a hard day at work and switch on Sam and Al as they endeavour to put right what once went wrong. This has become a cult series and has all the ingredients that qualify it to be so. Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell are a delight to watch and demonstrate their acting pedigree superbly. This show is warm ,sensitive thoughtful and forever endearing.Scott Bakula's emotional response to all situations can at times be very moving the moral character of Dr Sam Beckett is a benchmark for us all.One of my best ever buys!

Great Show - still
Hi! I guess I don't have to tell much about this series. It's one of the best shows of the 90's I think. More interesting are the features of this box :) The outer appearance is ver good (and solid), meaning of thick cardboard with a metallic finish. On the inner side of the cover is an index with the DVD's numbers and the titles of every episode for all 5 seasons (quite nice). The DVD's themselves vary in configuration/features. The first season has a trivia special for every episode (Scott Bakula telling some fun facts to each episode) plus subtitles in English. Season 2 and 3 don't have any of these features (even NO subtitles!) which is a bit poor. Because I'm stuck at the moment with season 3 I cannot tell much about the remaining seasons and there features (but there are - according to the index I mentioned above - furhter features, e.g. about the 80's or 90's at season 4). But I still think this is a good buy, especially because of the price/performance ratio :) So "leap on" :))
