A Budget-Friendly Tool for Detecting Hidden Car Issues
Driving at high speeds, it's a relief to have a tool that can easily diagnose potential car problems...The build quality may not be top-notch, but this tool certainly gets the job done with decent quality. While it may not withstand extreme mishaps like a receiver falling off while cruising on the highway, it excels in pinpointing issues like bad bearings that are not yet audible to the naked ear. The included headphones might not meet expectations, but once replaced with a pair of Bose over-ear headphones, the experience is transformed. This tool has proven invaluable in detecting hidden car issues, making it a worthwhile investment for any car owner looking to stay ahead of potential problems.

Great tool for any mechanic or car enthusiast
These work as good as any other chassis ear I have used. They are affordable, costing significantly less than other brands of the same quality. I have used them a couple of times and they have helped me diagnose suspension issues on customer vehicles. They are easy to install and as durable as any other chassis ear I have used previously.

Perfect Tool for Tracking Down Jeep Noises
I bought the Steelman Wireless ChassisEAR Auto Diagnostic Tool Kit to chase down some mystery rattles and clunks on my Jeep Wrangler JK, and it absolutely delivered. The wireless sensors make setup fast and hassle‑free—no cords to run through doors—and I could finally pinpoint exactly where the noise was coming from. I attached the sensors to my Jeep’s front control arms, skid plates, and rear suspension, then listened through the receiver while driving. Within one trip, I found a worn control arm bushing that had been driving me crazy for weeks. The audio clarity is excellent, and the wireless signal stays solid even in rough terrain. Compared to cheaper wired noise finders I’ve tried, this kit is far more professional. The build quality is rugged, and the battery life easily lasts through a full day of diagnostics. If you do your own Jeep maintenance or just want to locate suspension or drivetrain noises without guesswork, this tool is a game‑changer.

Tested it on my furnance and it picks up noise very well
I mainly bought it to test wheel bearing noise on my car but testing my furnace also tells me this good tool to have. I bought a different head set that works better for me in listening to noise on the different channels.

Useful tool for spotting hidden car problems
Lacking in premium build, this device still performs well for its purpose. It’s great for finding small issues like failing bearings before they cause bigger problems. The included headphones aren’t very good, but swapping in a quality pair of Bose headphones makes a noticeable difference. I’ve used it during routine checks and caught issues early, saving me from bigger repairs down the line. It’s a handy gadget for anyone interested in maintaining their vehicle more effectively.

Useful Tool, Poor Quality, No Alternatives
So this is a very useful piece of kit and to my knowledge, Steelman is the only company making such a device. There are some rebrands, but they're all Steelman made I believe. The basic function of the tool is fine. The microphones are sensitive, and the receiver intuitive. As others have mentioned though the build quality is just awful. The clips on the back of the transmitters snap under the slightest stress (they can't hold the weight of the transmitter itself going over bumps), the microphone to transmitter interface fits very slopped resulting in the mics getting pulled out easily and ceasing transmission. The plastics are your finest ABS sewer pipe grade, and the whole thing feels quite cheap. That having been said, I understand with this being an occassional use tool, there's a need to cut costs because people aren't going to spend a ton on something they only use once in a while. Things like the case being a bit chinsy is fine, even the receiver feeling as cheap as it does is acceptable to me. But once you start compromising on function with the flimsy clips and bad connections, you've penny pinched too far.

Gets the job done
Works good, decent value for the money, however some parts feel cheap. good tool to use for the intermittent clunks/rattles, can save you time and headaches, however it can be a hassle and take some time to put all the batteries in and set it up when I need to use it. Each module takes 4 AAA batteries, and the handheld brick takes 6 AA batteries. Modules also seem to use batteries fairly quick, however this is by far more convenient than the Wired unit that I had before, they also have a Gen 2 of this wireless unit now, so check that before purchasing.
