This shelf unit is good value. Other reviewers suggest that drilling is needed, but on the one I received, the uprights were pre-drilled and so all that is required for assembly is a screwdriver (preferably an electric one). It was straiughtforward to put together, although you need to be slightly careful to line up the screws in the centre of the wood they are going into to avoid splitting. At the end it looks great and is fairly sturdy, although I don't think it would hold up if it was filled with very heavy books as the wood is thin.

Seems strong. We are using ours for a shoe rack. It holds a good amount of shoes and much sturdier than the shoe racks for sale at the same price. Not the neatest of product but it’s hidden in the cupboard so doesn’t worry me. You can paint it to go with your decor if not

Pre-drilled holes in the uprights and no need for them in the shelves as long as you're using an electric screwdriver.

I would really have given this 5 stars if only the shelves had pre-drilled holes in them. If you haven't got a drill, or got access to one, you would end up unable to assemble this. I don't know why on earth they haven't drilled them when nowadays people expect to be able to buy an easy to assemble set of shelves or whatever and put it together using nothing more than a screwdriver. Luckily I have a drill, but not many women do.

Very basic and small shelving unit. Not very stable or worth the money paid. Managed to purchase a metal shelving unit which was twice the size for little more than I paid for this one. Would have given it no stars for value for money if that choice was available!!

It looks like the picture, but its far from easy to out together and it ends up not being straight. Even if you were a carpenter, you would struggle with this, because the wood is cheap and you would end up wanting to cut it to get it straight and in line, you would also then have lots of holes if you were a perfectionist, because to get it straight you need to undo and redo-the wood just isn't what it needs to be. But it looks like the picture and if you are ok using it for a cheap purpose and not for fancy show, it doesn't matter. You also wouldn't send it back, because by the time you've worked out its not right, its all open in pieces and returning it would be a nightmare. I'm using it in my office to store things and really don't care its a bit wonky, you could call it my workmanship, but I would challenge you to give it a go and get it right first time, or face having lots of holes.
