A must have time saver
This eyepiece helps cancel/absorb some light and allows for more clarity when viewing in the suburbs. (My backyard) After about 5 min adjusting eyes, many more distant items became visible with this eyepiece, than any other I have. The ability to zoom with 1 piece eliminates the hassle of changing, dropping, or looking for the next piece you want. Price point; this is a very good product that can replace 5 other eyepieces, or save some cash by only getting this 1 zoom. Happy star hunting.

This won't be the last eyepiece you buy, but it should be the first!
To be fair, I don't have any experience with other Zoom eyepieces, but this SV135 model from SVBONY works very well. The title to this review is because you get 5 different focal lengths from 7mm to 21mm, and you can figure out what works best for you before you spend more money on individual eyepieces. Solid weight so it doesn't feel cheap, and very smooth movement when you twist to zoom. It comes with two rubber dust caps that fit nice and snug without being difficult to remove. Views through the eyepiece are sharp and clear, the only downside is you will need to adjust your telescope focuser slightly. There is also some reduction in field of view (i.e. how much of your target will fit in the eyepiece), but that isn't an issue. I have a few different products from SVBONY, and I am always impressed with their quality. If you are on a smaller budget, I highly recommend this zoom eyepiece.

Great eyepiece for the price, broke and replaced under warranty
I noticed early on after receiving this SVBONY eyepiece that something didn’t seem quite right—there was a broken plastic piece on the bottom end. I wasn’t sure exactly when it broke, but once I realized it, I contacted SVBONY’s customer service. They were incredibly helpful and responded quickly. Their warranty service was excellent—they sent me a replacement eyepiece within just a few days, completely free of charge, including shipping. The eyepiece itself looks great, feels good in the hand, and performs well. The views through the telescope are sharp, and while there are eyepieces with wider fields of view, this one is still very versatile for what it offers. I mainly use it as a planetary eyepiece, and it works really well for that purpose. There are some plastic parts that could potentially break, as happened with mine, but knowing that SVBONY stands behind their products with such solid customer support gives a lot of confidence. Overall, a very nice eyepiece backed by exceptional warranty service. Would recommend.

One of my go to lenses
Fantastic Value – Versatile and Clear Views! I am very impressed with the SVBONY SV135 eyepiece. For the price, it’s an absolute gem. The zoom range from 7–21 mm makes it incredibly convenient—I can switch magnifications without fumbling with multiple eyepieces in the dark. The zoom action is smooth, and the build quality feels solid and reliable. Optically, the views are sharp and clear. The Moon looks crisp, Jupiter’s bands are visible, and I was even able to catch details in the Orion Nebula. The eye relief is comfortable, and it works well with or without glasses. Of course, the field of view is narrower at the low end (21 mm), but it opens up nicely as you zoom in. For me, that’s a small trade-off considering the convenience and performance it delivers. Overall, this eyepiece has quickly become one of my favorites in my kit. Whether you’re a beginner or just want a versatile grab-and-go eyepiece, the SV135 is hard to beat. Highly recommended!

A Remarkable Zoom for the Price
The zoom has the following good points: Low scatter, high contrast, sharp to the edge at all focal lengths at f7.5, extremely good flare control, fairly good eye relief (not quite enough for glasses wearers), and smooth zooming. What's not to like? Well... A fairly narrow field of view at 21mm, and not all that wide at 7mm. Still, this is wider than the sometimes cheaper, narrower angle, 7-21mm sold by some other dealers, and the wider field is better corrected. You can't see what magnification you are using in the dark without using a light. This is where zooms with click stops come in handy. Even with a light, comparisons with fixed eyepieces show that the focal lengths marked on the barrel are longer than what the eyepiece provides by a significant margin, at least in the middle marks. Hence, you are using significantly more magnification than you might believe. That said, I use this over the much more expensive Baader zoom. The optical quality of the Svbony is matched by the viewing comfort. Here is the obligatory, "I have Takahashi and Baader orthos, but I use this zoom for my planetary viewing." I paid $50. What I got was a high performance eyepiece that I can comfortably sit and look through for hours.

Pleasantly surprised
I ordered the Celestron zoom lens and was getting impatient waiting for it to ship so I ordered this one. The appearance and specs were identical to the Orion zoom lens. I don’t know if it’s a copy cat or a different branding of the exact same lens. Slightly better zoom than the Celestron, slightly better eye relief, and 60% of the price. Why not? It just arrived yesterday (early!) and I tried it right away. It looks fantastic. Much better actually than the stock 24mm lens that came with my Orion XT6. By that I mean that the clarity and contrast were much better. I could clearly see the banding on Jupiter, clearly see even the gap in Saturn’s rings. And some features of Saturn’s atmosphere. The zoom is smooth and gradual as you twist the eyepiece. There are no clicks as you pass through the marked zoom levels. But it’s a continuous, smooth zoom like you would expect from the zoom on a camera. It maintains focus throughout the zoom. I haven’t had the lens for long so I can’t speak to its durability, but I can tell you I cancelled the order for the Celestron lens. Very happy with this lens and I saved $25 and God knows how long in waiting, for a lens that lets me zoom in just a little more than the Celestron would have. Super happy.
