... World War 1 in the hope of enticing some bored teenagers away from their phones on a long car ...
I bought History Heroes World War 1 in the hope of enticing some bored teenagers away from their phones on a long car journey to France. I was expecting them to quickly go back to their phones after one game but in fact, they all really enjoyed it and we whiled away a few happy hours playing with the cards and testing each other’s knowledge. The game is addictive and the more you play, the better you get, so as we are quite a competitive family we have had quite a lot of fun with the game. The World War I cards have over 30 significant World War 1 heroes who range from Elsie Inglis (Scottish doctor) to Khudada Khan (south Asian soldier who won the Victoria Cross). On each card there are 6 facts and a joker fact and you play by trying to win as many cards a possible. Cards are won by guessing the name of the hero when you have been given a clue or fact. The game is aimed at an 8 years plus age group and have facts which are colour coded in terms of levels of difficulty. This means that adults and older teenagers would definitely enjoy the game and younger children can play using the pictures as a clue. The facts are very interesting and well researched and the more one plays, the more knowledgeable one becomes. I will definitely buy another game from the series for our next long car journey.

Fantastic, beautifully designed, educational product!
Brilliantly designed cards which cover a whole range of characters important in World War I history. Fun and easy to play with kids as the illustrations are captivating and full of interesting and unusual facts, many of which I didn’t even know. The range of difficulty levels means it’s suitable to play with a range of ages.

Lots to learn
We tried playing this as a game with our 10 yo, but it's not really possible until one knows all the heros on the cards. So we used it as a way to learn about these key figures. Really interesting facts. Maybe we'll get to the point we can quiz each other in a game.
