NAD CS1 Endpoint Network Streamer – Hi-Res Audio Streamer with AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect & Bluetooth

If you send audio signals around you home so that you can share music, this is an excellent device from the notable British company NAD. Connectable via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and directly by RCA cables, the CS1will fill just about any streaming need. Equipped with AirPlay and Chromecast, and Roon-ready. Relatively easy to use, you will be quite satisfied with the high quality of its sound.

Solid Device. No frills just good quality. I highly recommend this streamer if you don’t need all the bells and whistles but demand quality sound…

Front End Nad CS1 The affordable Frontend NAD CS1 is not designed to connect out of the box with the integrated Bluetooth for example to my Apple neighborhood (Mac mini, iPhone 15, iPad 8) and a Klipsch Bluetooth speaker. First you have to let start the automatic soft-/firmware download in an adequate area (Internet) then you have to make a setup at the rear side of the NAD CS1: below ‘Setup’ you’ll find that tiny hole! Now the NAD CS1 Bluetooth is enabled I had to find and connect the NAD CS1 in the iPhone Bluetooth register where it appears with an additional four digit code. Besides Bluetooth and Internet connectivity the NAD CS1 has RCA, optical, Coax and Ethernet connections. There is only one button and a multicolor LED: learning by doing! Blue light - Bluetooth ready! It’s a Frontend and there doesn’t exist any App to access the Nad frontend. But the NAD CS1 is Roon Ready and works with this Music Service (and other) out of the box. Very difficult to connect to, and unreliable when it connects

I really wanted to like this unit because I have an NAD 20 year old receiver that still works and sounds great. Looks wise it’s a great match. They claim easy to connect, but I had to search several places online to find a way to get it to connect to my iPad Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro. Trying to reconnect after turning off was difficult. When it was connected, sound quality was lifeless and compressed compared to DAC and Bluetooth adapter it was to replace because after a few years something stopped working. I’m returning the unit the next day, and renewing my search for a better solution.

Could not connect my phone to it. Both the quickstart instructions and the latest manual of the NAD website were useless. iOS app never found the device, even when i successfully connected to its Soft AP. Could use it as an airplay receiver using wired ethernet but could never connect from iOS to adjust any settings using the app. Returned. Shame too because the hardware and features look nice. I especially liked having a 12V trigger output.

Never knew streaming audio could sound this good!

The sound quality seems better than the Topping DX3+. Does has some shortcomings though. I had to scale back to WAP2 security on my WIFI router in order to use the CS1 because the CS1 does not work with WAP3. WAP3 came out in 2018 and it is 2023 now. If I don't use the CS1 for awhile, I can no longer connect to it via WIFI. NAD support said that was deal for for now, but they notified their quality assurance team. They said to unplug for 2 minutes, and then wait for 5 minutes after plugging it in before trying to connect.

Great product easy to set up and sounds great.

Lo primero, vincular a red wifi de 2’4 por la estabilidad porque la 5 o plus da problemas. En cuanto cambié, perfecto. El sonido que extrae con Spotify direct sin pérdida, que usa sistema FLAC, es superior al del CD, imagino que por la calidad del Dac, y porque mis reproductores de CD son de gama media y algo antiguos. Aún así estoy sorprendido de la gama de detalles. Lo tengo conectado aún amplificador Nad, y ecualizo ligeramente con un ecualizador analógico. Además, este streamer no requiere aplicación alguna, que considero un engorro. Por supuesto es también bluthoot y con AirPlay con mi iPad, pero entonces no aprovecha toda la calidad del sonido sin pérdida. Se apaga a los 15 minutos sin recibir señal, es decir entra en standby, con lo cual ni me preocupo de apagarlo. Si quieres extraer todo el partido a la opción de audio si pérdida de Spotify, es tu aparato. No lo he probado con Tidal ni Amazon Música, pero está preparado.

Je voulais un appareil capable de faire du streaming hi-fi pour compléter ma chaîne, et avec cet appareil, j'ai trouvé. Très simple d'utilisation et très efficace le son étant d'une pureté. Pour le faible investissement, le CS1 vient rehausser ma chaîne grandement.
