Excellent quality - strong and reliable
I debated for a while just how much to spend on this lock - it was for a side gate to our house so didn't need to be a top quality security lock, but it did need to be good enough not to rust and seize up like the one we inherited when we bought the house! I think we made the right choice as this lock is heavy and strudy, and the number dials on the base are still moving very easily after about 5 months outdoors (ie. Feb ->July). The lock itself is opened by pushing the clasp and base together and this is still working as well as the day we bought it which is great. (If I was being picky I suppose the number dials on the base are slightly small, those with fat fingers might struggle, but then again there isn't space for larger dials unless you go for a more industrial size/strength!) FURTHER UPDATE - JULY 2015: This is a top quality lock! Still shiny and smooth to operate... finally a lock that doesn't rust and stick! :o) FURTHER UPDATE - AUGUST 2016: Still shiny and smooth to operate... not even had to use WD40 or anything on it!

Excellent product
Robust, very well made padlock. It is very easy to re-set the code if required and is also far less fiddly to lock and unlock than others I have tried. Some combination locks are easy to crack by "feeling" the tumblers on the wheels as they rotate but that seems impossible with this padlock. Highly recommended.

Lock failed and Abus support is non-existent
There are not many of these branded long shackled combi locks. I thought an Abus product would work well and prove reliable as I have a few of their other products (bike locks, cable locks etc). It proved to be a very fiddly lock to use. The small wheels were rather stiff to move and the numbers soon became hard to read clearly. After 18 months the lock stuck closed and no amount of messing with the combination (e.g. trying adjacent numbers on the wheels) would get it unlocked. It had to be cut off with a grinder. I thought Abus would offer support or warranty so I contacted them twice using their website contact form explaining the situation. Abus didn't respond. I have since bought the Squire lock as shown in the picture and it has been in use for 6 months. I can report that it's so much better than the Abus lock. The wheels are large and clear and move easily and the lock has a 10 year guarantee. Squire is also a British company.

Good quality and problem free.
Had this in use for a little while now. I use it to secure the side access to the rear of my property. I didn't want to mess about with finding keys for a lock etc so went for this combination. I have peace of mind knowing my gate is locked and my daughter can play in the garden with her friends securely knowing no one can get in and they can't get out. It is unlocked weekly to get the bins out and so far has not caused any issues. Very pleased with the quality.

Solid - but check the shackle dimensions are suitable for the intended use.
Good solid body and shackle. Combination relatively easy to change using the tool provided. Be careful to check the shackle dimensions to ensure that the lock will fit in/through the item you wish to secure. I bought this lock to use with a Keter 1200 litre 'Store it Out Max' storage unit and the lock was completely unsuitable - shackle too thick to fit through the pre-drilled hole and too short to give any clearance even if it had fitted. (My own fault as I should have measured beforehand). Consequently am unable to comment on the durability or weather-proofing of the lock as I have not actually used it.

Great combination lock
A great padlock that functions well - like all ABUS padlocks I've ever used. First one I was sent the combination wheels kept jamming and sometimes it wouldn't open with the correct code - however the replacement arrived the next day and is working flawlessly.

Low security combination lock
As many have commented, the numbers are very small and if (like me) you have poor close vision, difficult to read. Abus have made up for this by making it particularly easy to manipulate (pick). This saved me from having to get my glasses to get it open. It took me 20 seconds. (less time than finding my glasses). I bought one of these specifically because it said in the description that it was "provided with locking mechanism that gives special protection against manipulation". The only thing that I can find that might be meant by this is that after you have detected the combination correctly, the lock will not open until you release tension on the shackle. Effectively this is the same as all the other combination locks on offer and has no protection against manipulation, and must be considered low security. Suitable for locker rooms and locations where the would be attacker is constantly observed and would not want to risk even 20 seconds removing the lock. I expected more sport for my twenty quid, you can get more challenging locks for a fiver. On the plus side, it is big and heavy and looks like a real one. Despite previous comments I used this (after breaking my key lock) to make my shed look like it was locked and in the process of using it discovered some nice features. unlike many combination locks you can close the lock with the wrong combination displayed. This means that you need only apply the combination to unlock, and then immediately scramble the dials - not leaving the lock lying around displaying its unlock combination this is a nice feature. I oiled mine heavily, (I know you are generally not supposed to oil locks as they will collect dirt but I reckon its a trade between that and weather damage and oil wins for me) it runs pretty smoothly now, but doesn't improve its security.
