Q: Will it discreetly let me know if house door is open? Or is it an alarm that people walking by outside can hear?

You can set it to text you or to have the hub alarm inside the house go off. My hub is in my 2nd floor bedroom and alarms on on my doors on 1st floor. So people opening the doors don't hear it I did that because I have an dementia patient at home and it notifies me if they try to leave house when I am sleeping but doesn't scare them

Read the QR code on the sensor with your app first.

Q: Can the hub play a siren sound if the door opens or do you have to buy the seperate siren? I want to get a notice on my phone and an alarm sound.

The SpeakerHub can play a siren sound, but keep in mind it is not a loudspeaker (like our sirens are). The sound level is closer to an Echo Dot; it may not be heard throughout your home. But I have seen the SpeakerHub placeed in foyers and closer to the door locations, where it should be heard very well. This is also a good location, because you can have the SpeakerHub say "system armed" and "system disarmed" as you leave or arrive through that door.
