What is the level of resistance on the band. light? medium? purchased as a gift so i wasn’t able to try it and see how the resistance felt. thank you.

The band resistance is light. I would recommend a bigger/heavier band for more resistance. Or ... even better ... use an individual Kettle Bell (KB). Start with a small weight (7 lbs.) and then increase the weight as you become stronger. The advantage of a KB is one can "position" the weight as he/she descends to a stopping point and reverses upward. This will make sense once you try it. Really helpful for improving one's balance. A lot of fun, too. Great for increasing quad/knee strength. I suggest you perform one set, with KB, while using the LifePro Squat Wedge set (direct quad/knee work, akin to an isolation exercise), rest 20-30 seconds and step away from the ramps and now perform a regular flat footed squat with the same (or slightly lighter or heavier) KB. (This second set is like a compound (multi-joint) exercise. Lots of hip and glute involvement in addition to some quad work). Work your way up to the 15-20 rep range for the first ramp set. Try to achieve 12-18 reps for the flat footed second set. Over time, keep trying to descend a "little bit" deeper on your ramp squats. (If you have had previous knee injuries this may not be for you). Go slow. Be "gentle" with yourself here. Don't let goal setting or high ambition get the best of you. Let your body tell you what to do. Become a "muscle/joint feeler." (Think a like a Yoga person or a ballet dancer. Feel the motion of your muscles and joints). This type of controlled descent will really strengthen your knees. (Quads, too). It will also greatly diminish the possibility of injury. For your regular flat footed squats go no deeper in your descent than when the tops of your thighs become parallel with the ground. (Going deeper than this for the flat footed squat can cause possible low back and knee issues if exercise performance is not optimal. Consider yourself warned. Just use common sense). Enjoy your new ramps. They are very useful tools.
