This seems to be a really decent thermometer
This is a positive review but the thermometer only arrived today so this review is based on my initial use of it. I'm a 3rd year BSc nursing student and used to taking observations from patients. Firstly I was really pleased to see that I was sent the newer and updated model which includes the display light ('Smart Glow', they call it) and it also has the 8 memories. It was not clear from the description whether the new or old one would be sent. So I'm really pleased with this new one. The form factor is good, ideal to slip into a backpack or coat pocket. It's light, it should be easily cleaned, there aren't really any bits to break off, the battery compartment lid seems a decent fit and solid, the plastic also seems the type that doesn't shatter. It's a warm feeling non-brittle plastic. As for the operation, it couldn't be easier. The beeps play quickly as it detects a new hotter area so one slow swipe across the forehead seems to give consistent results on me. The 8 memories and display light are a real bonus. I hummed and harred a lot before deciding which thermometer to buy as they all are, in their own way, only a 'surrogate' for the actual core body temperature and all thermometer types have their disadvantages (typmanic: ear wax or blocked/narrowed ear canals give false readings - common with older people?!. Oral: readings very dependant on precisely which spot you place it... etc). I'm very happy with this item and having done a lot of research before buying I can tentatively (because it's so new) thoroughly recommend it with one caveat... read the manual! In fact the manual is quite good with a lot of detail. Normal readings will be higher/different from an oral or under-arm thermometer and I expect that with a fever, the reading will be noticeably higher in proportion than other thermometer types. So long as you understand this it should suit you well. Five stars.

Good to use and seems to do the job.
I like this product but don’t have another thermometer to tell how accurate it is. It hasn’t shown obviously wrong readings and so I’m trusting it to be accurate. The instructions were a bit obscure. It would be logical to start with how to use it.

Works as advertised
For me, this product works as advertised. I have compared a few times with a rectal thermometer and the values match well. I get consistent readings, which is a good sign. It is easy to use, but you should read the instructions carefully and practice a bit before you need it. One problem is that the temperature of the thermometer must be the same as the surrounding air temperature. At first I stored the thermometer in a cupboard, which turned out to be quite cold. This resulted in readings that were too low. At another time I had put it on a shelf above the radiator in the room of my daughter, and this caused the reading to be a bit off. Another minor issue is that it would have been nice if it was easier to read the display in dim conditions. One benefit of this thermometer is that you can take the temperature of someone how is asleep, but in those cases it is also often dark.

Very precise, near-instant temperature reading.
I got this after using a no-touch Braun thermometer that was giving every time a different, and wrong, reading. This is incredibly precise, gives consistent readings and seems built very well. It has a battery included, backlit display to use in the dark, can switch between F and C, and has a memory for the last reading. I would definitely recommend this, especially for babies this is the most precise non rectal thermometer

DON'T BUY IT
I suggest you don't buy one. My wife and I have each tried dozens of times and neither of us has yet had a normal reading (98.6 deg) The nearest we've got is 97.1 deg. That is unhelpful nonsense.

Its accurate
We purchased this for checking the children's temperatures at school and it has been used lots as you can imagine. Its accurate and easy to use.

Expensive - but well worth it.
If you have children then you need one of these. Our 2 year old hates having his temperature taken and when he is distressed due to being ill, the last thing we want to do is force him to have his temperature taken by sticking something in his ear (boy can he wriggle) or in his armpit. That has all changed now. With the Temporal Artery thermometer he doesn't mind having his temperature taken at all, and best of all is the fact that we can check him while he is sleeping without disturbing him. Yes, it's expensive -- but worth every penny.

Works great
Bought it for my newborn. My husband and I also use it and we like the simple use and the ability to turn the beeping sound off as it bothered my newborn. You have to use it correctly otherwise it can give you the wrong temperature. But for now we think the results are correct so we will rely on it in the future - for example we tried to measure temperature twice in a row on the same forehead and it always showed the same temperature.

Doesnt work. Continously low readings.. This is an allegedly home version of a pharmaceutical product. Use an IR meter
