Plug and Play. Recommended Drive if Below $16
Device was instantly recognized by the PC as soon as it was connected. It comes with both traditional USB-A and a USB-C connectors. The drive remained cool and did not overheat despite prolonged active usage (i.e., 3+ hours) and continuous reading, writing, and ripping cycles.I chose this drive over the other dozens of external DVD drive listings at the time of purchase because it was the lowest priced one. It was $14 at the time of purchase and has since increased to $18 at the time of this review. I would still recommend it if it was $15 or $16; however, I would recommend just buying the cheapest alternative if this item continues to be $18. These sort of devices are all practically identical in quality and functionality, and it is not worth spending extra. The lowest priced drive will do the same job as a comparable one that is two or three times the price.

Exactly what I needed
Easy to use, uploaded quickly. Size is small. Cord length could be a bit longer. I'm very happy with my purchase.

The fact you can use USB or type c is great. The also have a Grove to place the wire when done so you don't have to wrap the wire around the drive. Made music cds in seconds. Over nothing to complain about and just a great overall purchase.

I use it to burn single and double layer dvd and is working fine.

Disappointed it didn't work
I was really hoping it would work. Tried several disc. The green light on the front of the unit would flash and the drive would spin up but it would then slow...having never read the disc. A look in the Device Manager in Windows, showed an unrecognized USB device. Unplugged from that computer and connected it to a completely different computer with the exact same result....(down to same USB fault in Dev. Man). Sadly, I had to return it. It was a bummer because the device looked very well made from a material and fit/finish standpoint. Electronic failure can occur in new items so I can't be too upset.
