it is a legit piece of kit that brings versatility to your stability. smaller than it looks. fine quality. heavy duty but still light. easy to use. price it fair. everything fits fine and is adjustable. goes well with a smallrig cage. would recommend.

I've gone back and forth pulling the trigger on one of these for a while and after my last shoot where I ran out of battery power and didn't notice (one man band and it was my b-cam) I bought this. It's perfect. It functions exactly as expected, is easy to use and set up, doesn't way a ton and didn't cost a ton. I paired it with a smallrig vmount and now I have no concerns about power over an interview shoot.

After writing a bad review, Smallrig was kind enough to reach out to me and help resolve my issue! Thanks Smallrig! old review: Read before you buy!!! I purchased this along with Smallrigs expensive V99 battery, and all I can say that they are not compatible. When the battery is attached I am able to wiggle it apart. You can see that the plate is not in tolerance and is off by a few milimeters, just enough for the plate to be twisted off. I have never expirienced this with vmounts before. I am SO DISSAPOINTED! Heres my review for the V99: NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I have this battery along with Smallrigs Vmount battery plate. When I attach the V99 battery to the vmount plate, I noticed I am able to wiggle it apart/off. BEWARE the vmount is not secure, I already dropped my battery from resting my rig against my chest. So I sandwiched an extra plate that comes with the Smallrig Vmount plate and seems to be secure but is only held with one 1/4”-20 screw. These are both Smallrig products, I’m not understanding why I need to install a second plate for it to work, for such an expensive item and all the advertising they have with the two, you would think they are compatible together, get it right smallrig! Hopefully Smallrig revises these Vmount locking plates asap or I will be going back to my FXLions.

On tripod I use a more "cumbersome" but full featured oplate and rails setup, but when I want to be nimble, have a boom operator (or "talent" on hidden lavs) and for no-audio b-roll this is my go to. Quick plate release change (from gimbal or tripod setup) and I have v-lock power for camera and monitor and can shoot handheld for hours. Well made, suits the purpose. Honestly not sure about the door thing, but still getting use to it. Love the QR back rails + vmount though!

This is a small, but great and convenient v mount battery plate rig. I’m able to use the same mounting plate for my DJI rs3 pro, to switch to handheld on this. It’s quick and easy. My only problem is the time and energy it takes to securely lock the battery plate upright.

I picked up this SmallRig Foldable V-Mount Battery Plate for my Sony FX3 before heading to NAB 2025, and it performed great on day one. It connects solidly to the bottom of the camera and feels super sturdy — definitely a well-built piece of gear. That said, with a fully rigged setup and V-mount battery, the added weight was a bit much for handheld use over multiple days, so I went lighter for the rest of the show. But if you’re in a studio environment or using a tripod, this is an excellent solution for extended power without compromise. One less thing to worry about on set!
