The Midcentury Modern Landscape

My family in Oregon who just bought a mid-century home are still thanking me for this wonderfully photographed and expansively detailed book on mid-century modern homes, emphasizing their outdoor landscapes. Now I want one similar only detailing Northwest properties over the Palm Springs concentric homes featured here.

I absolutely love this book! Understanding the history of midcentury modern homes and landscaping is giving me more to love about the design. The photographs are beautiful and inspiring and the author has a lot to share about the evolution of midcentury modern homes and their gardens. So fascinating! A must have for your coffee table as well!

I love this book. Trying to landscape an MCM house with a large yard and needed some ideas. Just wish the climate was a bit warmer so I could use more tropical plants. Still, a good example of MCM landscapes.

Loved the balance of history and design in this book! Very helpful since we just purchased our first mid century modern house!!

As a midcentury person, I have always loved midcentury architecture. I lived near an Eichler neighbor hood and would take the side streets just to see them. Living in Evanston, IL I loved driving Sheridan Road thru “the ravines” to see Ferris Beuhler style homes. I loved that the Intro pages highlighted my home town of Park a Forest, IL. In high school I never knew Ethne to have a green thumb but when she moved to England she found her calling. She has studied all styles of gardens for her books and you can tell she knows what she is showing and talking about. I am going to love reading the rest of the book. And looking at all the pictures again and again. It’s a lovely, fun,

This beautifully, and intelligently, researched and written book is a rich surprise of past, present and practical, wonderfully providing an international view which is rare in mid-century writing. I find it a joy to read, to learn and to apply. 5 Stars!

Un libro completo, formativo y agradable de ver. Buenas fotografías, buenos textos con un breve recorrido histórico de la arquitectura residencial y la relación de ésta con sus jardines.

Guter Überblick . Es gibt aber auch noch bessere Bücher zu diesem Thema.
