Buy it 100%
Absolutely wonderful safety razor, none aggressive, paired with a good soap/cream and a decent blade I get great shaves every time. Feels good to hold, not too short handle but not too long either, the butterfly mechanism feels great, very smooth, i bought the gold as it was cheaper but in my opinion it looks rather expensive! I suffer with sensitive skin so even the smallest things can cause irritation, spots, dry skin etc. Hence the reason i moved over to double edge shaving in the first place. I was always a dry shaver as I've always suffered with acne breakouts from 13 years of age right up to now (10 years later) so wet shaving for me was a big no go! with the hyped up 5blade cartridge razors causing serious rashes/irritation i gave up and went dry shaving, until i recently discovered the art form of wet shaving that was, oh how i wish i discovered this long ago. For me i have not noticed it being a money saver as i got the dry shavers bought as gifts etc. But it can become an expensive hobby mind, this wet shaving lark! So many blades to try, so many different soaps/creams/oils to try, all the different brands have something good/bad about them for each individual so finding the perfect balance for your own skin is essential but can become costly. So to any newcomers to this style of wet shaving i would recommend this... Get yourself this butterfly razor as its a great beginners razor and its cheap enough if you decide this style of shaving is not for you. Then I would recommend buying yourself a cheap shaving stick like Arko, Palmolive (49p in Asda) or Derby. Arko is Tallow based so if you're vegan give it a miss, not sure on the Palmolive or Derby though. After the stick buy yourself a starter brush to go with it, again Asda sell Wilkinson Sword brushes, there good enough for starters! I think boots also sell some brush and so do the body shop and for after the shave I reccommend an Alum bloc, this heals cuts/nicks/weepers instantly. Also do not forget to buy yourself some blades, i use Astra superior platinum and get 4+ shaves per blade, so a 100 pack for me is good for around 500 shaves for £7.49 its a no brainer but YMMV, of course. However, you can buy sample packs of blades off here & Ebay. I made the mistake of jumping in both feet first and buying 100 pack of blades based on reviews, luckily it paid off and they suit me just fine, but this is not the case for some, so a sample pack is a good start for sure. I strongly advise you watch some youtube videos to learn the correct angle etc. Nick shaves & kevy shaves are both great! Basically just buy this razor, have fun learning a new artform and enjoy it!

A great balance!
I, like so many others, have gotten tired of Gillete & Wilkinsons monopoly of razors that have seen replacement blade prices become silly! I tried a shavette first ... it was fun but a bit challenging and not good for uneven areas. So I went for this! It strikes a happy medium between the cheap blades and good old fashioned manlyness of the cut throat shavettes and the safety and ease of modern razors! Not sure why it took me so long to get here but I can't see me changing from this now. You will need blades and a nice shaving cream to make the experience.. I went with 'Taylor of Old Bond St - Sandalwood' ... nice! The razor looks great, a nice rose gold look. And it has a nice case that has a mirror and a bit for holding blades. If you're worried about it cutting you or being difficult to use I would simply say give it a go... I did and don't regret changing! And let's face it for the price it's probably cheaper than buying a 4 pack of gillete mach octoblade diamond fusion expensive as hell MAN+ evolution ... more words that sound cool but have nothing to do with shaving etc... replacement blades!

Very nice razor, good experience so far
I really like this razor. It's the first time I've shaved with a DE razor and it does take slightly longer than shaving with a cartridge razor, but that's part of the shaving experience really, the reason being it's a one blade shave. The blades I purchased were Astra Superior (or at least that's what I think they're called) and they work out at under 9p a blade. My biggest issue with cartridge blades (apart from the cost) is that I like to leave a bit of growth, but only for a day (or two or three), as if I shave every day my skin doesn't like it, however if you leave it for a few days then I always find that the cartridge razor gets blocked up pretty quickly and is rendered useless at £2.50 a throw, however with this you can shave down and if the razor clogs up the clog can be removed with a knock on the sink, or alternatively by opening the jaws and wiping the blade on a cloth or towel (not with a finger!) Very impressed with the razor itself, it was great value and the case is nice too. The razor feels balanced and the gold one looks ok (I only went for the gold as it was considerably cheaper than the silver). Would definitely recommend to first time DE shavers.

Quality shaving tool
I bought this item because I had already purchased a Jagen David ® E01 - Double Edge Razor, and find it to be a great 3 piece razor which does the job beautifully. I did fancy a butterfly head so bought a Parker 99r butterfly but can't get to grips with if properly I just can't seem to get the right angle and get cuts. So decided to go for this Jagen David version of butterfly. Straight from the nice presentation box put an Astra blade in and had an easy nice comfortable shave. This is very comparable to the 3 piece, an excellent engineered product I would recommend it to anyone especially those just starting double edge shaving. It will last years and serve you well and save you money. Quality kit Ps if Jagen David want me to test any others it would be my pleasure😀👍
