Disappointing.
The listing suggests that this is a "loose leaf tea". The listing specifically says to "Simply add a teaspoon of our loose tea leaves into your preferred infuser, pour hot water over them, and let them steep for 3-5 minutes." Sorry, this is not a "loose leaf tea". What I have here, is a bag of what appear to be seed pods. I don't know how to prepare this tea, so I've looked it up. I've dropped a piece of the pod into a cup of almost boiling water, and it floats there. The water is getting darker - it's supposed to take ten to fifteen minutes to make tea. The scent from the bag is faintly earthy. The scent from the brewing tea is a bit stronger. Not especially appetizing at the moment, there is no flowery smell to it. The seed pod doesn't appear to be expanding, or opening, or doing anything at all, it just floats on top of the water. Cana fistula seems to see a lot of use in Asian medicine, where they use the seed pods, the leaves, the roots, and the leaves, and even the bark of the tree for various purposes. It seems that perhaps I should have cut this pod open, to allow the seeds, and the pulp around the seeds, to dissolve in the tea. The pod is shedding bits as it floats in the water, and softening up some. I've poked at it, picked it up, and pried at it, opened it up some. The seed pod has now filled with water, and sunk to the bottom of the cup. The flavor is simply not very interesting to me. It's a sort of woody, earthy flavor, that just doesn't appeal to me. I guess 3 stars is about right. The "tea" is misrepresented in the listing, as it is NOT a "loose leaf tea". It seems these pods have a lot of medicinal value, but since I'm not suffering from a fever, I don't think I really need it. I will make these pods available to my daughters in law, who may or may not use them. If not, they will go into my mulch pile, where they can add their nutritive value to my soil.

Don’t buy!!
This is not Cana fistula! When I cracked the shell it was seeds inside and something like mold. This was a waste of $$. If u know how it’s supposed to look this definitely doesn’t look like it!

Mild antioxidant and internal cleansing
For any tea affectionadoes seeking a new and pleasant brew, this may not be it. The cana fistula gives a very mild, earthy brew that is supposedly good for a liver and otherwise general purge. I find this is brewed most effectively using a French press - tea chunks at the bottom and pour hot water, steep, press, pour. It has a little more flavor that hot water alone but not a lot. Even with it steeping for 15 minutes, the flavor is very subdued. It certainly isn't unpleasant and after a hard day of physical work, I find it mildly soothing. A fine occasional alternative, and a good choice when you are after the purge.

Unique flavor
I'm really getting a kick out of trying these different types of teas that they offer on vine. These look like some sort of seed pods and they are not ground to where you can measure out a teaspoon, but I estimated about 30 pieces in the bag, some were smaller, so I figured about one med-large piece or 2 smaller pieces per cup, so I boiled up about 4 servings. Drank the first one hot and it's got a pretty rich flavor and gets kind of dark. Where I noticed some of the grassier and flower teas are more pale and not as strong. It's good hot and iced as well as with and without sugar/honey/lemon. It's got a unique flavor that I can't really describe, I guess I'd have to say it tastes like cana fistula, and didn't have much of the traditional Lipton type flavor but it was good. I was also worried after I drank so much that it was a laxative LOL. No worries, I felt pretty regular the next day, I mean if there is an issue it might help with that, but I think it's OK to have a cup per day. Also the pieces float so you may need a diffuser to hold things under the surface or drop them into a rolling boil for a few minutes.
