Battle Creek Brawl [DVD]

Good film. Would recommend if Jackie chan fan

I ordered this as it was listed at £12.22 in an 'acceptable' condition sale through Amazon it was on sale at just shy of £18 so I decided to take chance, I am glad I did, it arrived shrink wrapped and the only thing I noticed was that the J card was slightly ripped but everything else was immaculate. Very pleased with a product at a good price, may order items described as acceptable more if they are substantially cheaper, worth a shot and you can always return if it arrives badly damaged.

Good Jackie Chan film with a good mix of story and fighting. Seen before years ago and wasn’t disappointed watching it again, as good as I remember.

I remember seeing this film in 1980 on its release in the UK. Released as ' The Big Brawl' with an AA certificate. It was the first real chance that British audiences got to see Jackie Chan in action. I had already heard of his amazing ability through a friend who had seen ' Drunken Master' at a Chinese cinema club and eagerly anticipated seeing Jackie in ' The big Brawl' on national release. At the time I really enjoyed it and was impressed with Jackie Chan's acrobatic ability. On seeing the film again on DVD I can understand why Jackie was disappointed with this film. In the interview featured on the special features section, Chan expresses a lot of anger over the production and not being able to have full control over the choreography, and it clearly shows in the film itself. Jackie himself appears to be slower compared to his Hong Kong productions although the acrobatics are as always top notch. Directed by Robert Clouse ( Enter the Dragon) the films plot is wafer thin and is really just one punch up after another. Clouse never managed to replicate the success of ' ETD' and never fully appreciated the talents of Jackie Chan or chose to utilize them. Now the DVD itself. The print of the film is quite grainy and sometimes soft in appearance. It doesn't look its been restored at all.. And as another reviewer commented it does appear to be a cut version which is surprising for a Hong Kong legends release. The double ear clap ( which I remember on the video version) is definitely missing from this 15 certificate release. If your new to Jackie Chan and want something with a international flavor without dubbing then this is not a bad start but check out the classic ' Drunken master' first.

Many many years ago I went to the pictures to see this and forgotten just how much fun and enjoying this movie was

Wow this film looks good and sounds good it promised good fights , story and set pieces but it delivered the opposite , it was one of chans worst films and for the the price it costs to buy this its a rip off .Dont even bother with this lame film i expected it to be a clasic with wing chun but instead they were no wing chun to be seen ,Lies and lies it even says on the dvds description wing chun whag aload of tosh .

1980年、香港のゴールデンハーベスト社がジャッキー・チェンを第2のブルース・リーに育てるために製作された本作品。 監督：ロバート・クローズ、製作：フレッド・ワイントローブ、音楽：ラロ・シフリン等、「燃えよドラゴン」のスタッフを揃えて作られました。 公開当時は日本ではまだ知名度がいまひとつだったジャッキーの、アメリカ映画初主演作品です。 映画の舞台は、ギャング王アル・カポネが暗躍した1930年代のシカゴ。その時代背景に合わせてジャッキーは髪を短く切り、クラシック・カーで颯爽と走る！(^_^) この映画の劇場予告編にはブルース・リーの怪鳥音が多用され、まさにブルース・リーの後継者扱いでした。本作のPRで、どこの国に行ってもブルース・リーと比較され、ジャッキーもかなりうんざりしていたとの事。 しかし、そこで潰れずにその後も素晴らしい作品を作り続けてスーパースターとなったジャッキーの魅力を、もちろん本作品でも堪能できます‼(^^) 本作が公開された1980年当時、まだVHSビデオはそれほど普及しておらず、ファンが自宅でジャッキーの映像・音声に接する機会は、時々テレビで放送される映画とレコードぐらい。発売された本作のサウンドトラックLPレコードには「肉声・効果音入り」の謳い文句が・・・(￣ー￣) 映像をイメージしながら、毎日毎日聴いてたなあ。 ま、そんな時代からのオールドファンには、ジャッキー映画は絶対に〈石丸博也の吹き替えに限る！〉 テレビ画面の中のジャッキーと石丸博也の声のマッチングに、いつも大満足。 で、この日本語吹替収録版DVD、うれしいことに当時のテレビ放送の音声そのまんま。一昔前の豪華な声優陣（大塚周夫、麻上洋子、森山周一郎・・・）の共演も満喫できます！ 近年の、違和感ありありのタレント吹き替えに毒される前の、いい時代だったなあ。

とにかく、画質がぱっと、しないとゆうか何というか・・・せっかくブルーレイ商品なので、あと１ランク上の 画質でみたかった。予告編も、まるでリアルタイム時に個人のファンがVHS撮りした物を見てる気がします。 でも安価でジャッキーの昔の作品が見れるのだから、何とか納得です。

I go to ALL the big Video Rental stores in town and ask... The Big Brawl with Jacky Chan, do you have it? I'm told NO but you can look for it in the Movie Bible of all movies. It's right there but nobody has it. It's a super fun movie that you can share with your Glory Day Friends. So I go on eBay and find a boat load of Posters from the same movie being sold as collectibles for big money. Give me a break people, it's Jacky Freaken Chan, need I say more? If you expect a serious Kung Fu, Enter the Dragon style movie than you Expected the Wrong movie. It's like a Disney movie, done Chan style. Love the movie and I finally found it here. A real Jem
