Bought instead of antihistamines
A very informative young man stocking the antihistamines shelves at a local supermarket told me about the health benefits of bee pollen instead of using antihistamines. Bee pollen? New to me! So I thanked him and bought a packet, bit pricey compared to what I would pay for pharma option. I suffer with allergic rhinitis and have been taking antihistamines daily for years and want to come off them. I'm trying to do this gradually, symptoms I believe can increase when taking bee pollen but this I was advised passes. Still in early stages to say if I feel any better, I enjoy the bee pollen on cereal or yoghurt not bad taste at all, and the health benefits far out way the antihistamine tablet option so I'm persevering. I use a couple of teaspoons daily on my breakfast cereal, the packet doesn't have a recommended dose so I went with my own.

Good …… but be mindful
Pollen was great, ( unfortunately I discovered they are not good if you suffer migraines due to potential Tyramine levels )

Fresh, delicious, floral magic I'm a lover of all things bees 🌺🐝 I'll share what I learned: After some research looking for the best ways to consume bee pollen to maximize it's benefits, I learned that the pollen grains have a tough coating which protects them but which also makes it harder for us humans to access these potent nutrients. The bees process the pollen by a complex method involving both mechanical breaking of the cell walls of the pollen and further break it down through fermentation with honey to make the magical elixir called bee 🐝 bread, which they feed to their colony. You can make something similar yourself at home. This is how I make it. I'll post the recipe and list the difference in nutritional values increased using this method below. 👇 Wishing you health and joy 💛🍯🐝 Easy Homemade Fermented Bee Pollen Guide Ingredients & Tools Bee pollen: 1 cup (120g / 4.2 oz) Raw honey: 1 cup (340g / 12 oz) Apple cider vinegar (ACV): 2 tbsp (30ml) Digestive enzymes (optional): 1 capsule (e.g., bromelain or papain) Glass jar with lid Mortar and pestle or herb grinder Instructions Crush the pollen Use a mortar and pestle or grinder to finely crush 1 cup (120g) of bee pollen granules. This breaks the tough outer wall for better nutrient release. Mix ingredients In the jar, combine: Crushed bee pollen 1 cup (340g) raw honey 2 tbsp (30ml) apple cider vinegar Contents of 1 digestive enzyme capsule (optional) Ferment Stir well, seal the jar loosely (to allow gas release). Let sit at room temperature (68–77°F / 20–25°C) for 3–7 days. Shake gently once daily. Store After fermentation, tighten the lid and store in the refrigerator. Shelf life: Up to 6 months. 🍯🐝 BENEFITS ✨🌻🐝: (Compared to Raw Bee Pollen) - Digestibility: Increases from 62% to 85–92% - Phenolic content: Up to 93% more bioavailable antioxidants - Flavonoids & soluble proteins: Increase by **over 100%** - Allergenic proteins: Reduced through enzymatic breakdown AND YES, YOUR CATS CAN HAVE SOME TOO (but start slow and watch for allergies first) ✨🐝😸Instructions: Yes, your cat can have bee pollen too (not the fermented mix above☝️🚫, just the pollen grains - But START SMALL and WATCH FOR ALLERGIC REACTIONS FIRST 😺 🐝✨🤏 😺 Safe Dosage - Small cats (under 5 kg / 11 lbs): Start with 1/8 tsp (0.5 g) daily - Larger cats (5+ kg / 11+ lbs): Up to 1/4 tsp (1 g)bdaily - Never mix with milk - most cats are lactose intolerant. How to Use 1. Start with 1–2 granules mixed into food. 2. Gradually increase over **7–14 days** to full dose. 3. Sprinkle on wet food—do not give raw or in honey/ACV mix (fermented mix is for humans, not cats). 4. Monitor for: - Itching, swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, or breathing issues. - If any occur, stop and consult a vet. 💛 Benefits (When Tolerated) - Supports immune system - Reduces seasonal allergies (contains natural antihistamine quercetin) - Improves coat and digestion - Boosts energy and liver health 🍯 Storage - Keep in airtight container in a cool, dark place or fridge. ALWAYS consult your veterinaran before starting, especially if your cat is Young, Sick, Or On Medication. ✨💛👋
