We needed to replace an older model Dometic GC6AA-10E 6 gal. RV hot water heater. The framing of the new one was 12x12 our outside opening was originally 12x16. So you need to get this door conversion kit to close up the larger opening on the outside of your RV. This is Dometic Part #94946 that coincides with the heater mentioned above. NOTE: Amazon's product description of this conversion kit sates that door catch and hardware is sold separately, THIS IS NOT THE CASE, the hardware and side panels ARE included in the box along with the new door! All worked pefectly!

If I could give this heater no stars I would. The gas side of it stopped working after a few months and the company would not replace it and would only work with a local repair company. The repair service came out several times this year and were not able to diagnose the issue and when they went to submit their bill to Dometic it was denied. 12 months later im left with a water heater that only works on the electric side which doesn’t heat the water well. I am now having to save up the money to buy another new heater. Avoid this water heater at all costs. Even the repair company told me to never buy a product from Dometic as this issue is common. So I’ll stick with Suburban from now on.

This takes a little staring at to figure out how it all goes. Instructions were not really any help. Once figured out though it covers the hole and works just fine.

Exactly what I needed

Worked perfectly when I replaced my Atwood 96165 GCH6A-10E 6 Gallon with the new dometic water heater.

This door did not fit inside the RV's trimmed exterior opening. My opening inside the trimmed area measured 18.25" The original door was 18" This door was 18.5" and did not sit inside the trimmed out Water heater opening. I had to heavily modify this door by "bending" the sheet metal to a 90 degree angle all the way around it. I had to split the corners to round them out to fit. In other words, the old door edges were bent at 90 degrees. This new door maybe 15 degrees which makes it too large to fit inside the trim.
