What is saphir "in color"?

It is basically a "clear" it can be used on all colors of leather without changing the color of the leather you are polishing.

Do you also carry the variety of colors that are shown in the photo of the jars stacked in the advertisement? I would like a couple of the colors.

when it's time for regular cleaning & polishing, do you remove prior wax and polish before applying the new or can you just polish & wax over it?

Never remove the old wax. Use layers to develop a better shine. Here is an article I wrote for an international magazine: I have been a firefighter in my city for nearly three decades. On my uniform during many of those years, be it silver or gold, I always wore my father’s badge. It reminded me of his legacy and of so many lessons learned. Back in the day, Dad was a firefighter on an airbase during Vietnam. He was good at his work, so after returning home, he kept fighting fire for our city… I followed in his footsteps. During his lifetime, my father taught me many lessons; great and small. One was a simple way to shine shoes: Without pretension, his technique fosters quiet focus and an almost meditative state as it continues to restore heart, mind, and shoes in one simple act. All you need is a brush, a sock, a little water and a can of Saphir. The brush I use was his. At over 60 years old this brush continues to clean beautifully. It's job is in the beginning, for removing dirt and softening of any scuffs. To achieve that glossy goodness, I employ a lonely, black Hanes sock who has lost it's mate. They tend to be very plush, so final buffing with one produces a consistently superior shine. Only one end of the sock is for application. The other end should be kept clean and dry. I usually dip my sock-wrapped finger in water, then I swirl it in the polish. Application with said dampened and pigmented and sock-wrapped finger is accomplished using about a million little circles. The longer one circles, the better it looks, so I continue, around and around, all over the surface; occasionally adding a bit more wax as needed. Within moments, I can see and feel the Saphir wax seemingly emulsify as it warms. Then a soft luster begins to develop into a deep gloss as I continue circling. At this point my thoughts often wander to the 1993 film “Sandlot,” when the fellas are in their municipal pool, talking about Wendy Peffercorn. When I've had enough, and I can’t take it anymore, I let the boots rest about 10-15 minutes. Then a final flourish of sock buffing with the clean end...and voila! Thanks Dad

Is this supposed to have an overbearing smell like turpentine? Is it supposed to be almost liquid at room temperature like melted butter?

Sometimes these do melt like butter. Can you provide a cooler location? It shouldn't effect the functionality. These do have some odors, it is petro after all. (Petroleum based)
