Porsche 911 60 Years

I bought it as a gift for a friend who just bought a new 911, his first Porsche. He likes the book a lot.

The author draws from his previous Porsche Research and through Extensive One-On-One Knowledge with Porsche Designers, Executives, and Engineers, produced this Best-Ever Read of the Marque. A Real Must Have on Porsche. If you DO or DO NOT OWN a 911 Porsche, this Volume is a TOP PICK !!

Great pictures and nice coverage of pretty much every model and generation and sub-generation of 911. However, there’s one big miss that I don’t quite understand. The 991.2 sub-gen, which was the model that introduced controversial turbo-charging across the entire Carrera model lineup, is almost completely skipped over. You would think such a big drivetrain change would merit its own section entirely, but the 991.2 gets literally a two-paragraph mention in the 2018 Turbo Exclusive section. It feels like after the 991.1 section the author is in a bit of a hurry to get the book wrapped up by quickly covering some special edition models, ending with a brief on the 992 generation. Aside from this I think the book is well done, especially for the asking price. But the lack of detail on the 991.2 means I can’t give it five stars.

Well written and informative. Makes a great coffee table book for any car enthusiast. The Porsche 911 is an iconic sports car with an interesting history and evolution that is well documented in this book.

If you love the 911, you should get it. Goes back to the very beginning. There's nothing here that you can't find elsewhere, but it is beautifully put together.

I ordered this book as a birthday gift for my son. It arrived on time, and he surprised me by how pleased he was. Wonderful gift for any Porsche lover !
