Trigger Point Self-care Manual: For Pain-free Movement Review: It really works (for a runner)! - I can't praise enough this book! You will need some patience to identify your pain pattern, find the correct muscle, and follow the directions to find the correct trigger point, but it works! I run moderately (20-30 miles per week), and I often have pain in my heel and foot. I thought it was the shoes, but we have the best running shoe store in town so that wasn't it. And then I thought it was over use of muscle or tendon but it kept coming. The pain in my foot was between the 3rd and the 4th two, in the tendon leading to these toes. I read the book, and found the trigger point was up on the side of my shin. Applying pressure at the correct spot caused a weird sensation in my toes, and that's how I knew it worked! The foot/toe pain didn't come back. Recently, I found the heel pain was from a tight muscle in my inner calf (between "calf muscle" and the shin bone). Regularly massaging that spot helped with the heel pain. One of my friends had pain in her Achilles and applying pressure to the correct trigger point seems to have helped. I will be trying the book again wherever I have pain next time. Review: This book is a lifesaver! - I have had various points of pain for the last 5-6 years and nothing helped. Finally my ring & pinky fingers on my left hand went numb and started drawing inward towards my palm & were aching all of the time. I did some therapy & massages but nothing helped and it was getting worse. This book helped me identify the trigger points that cause pain in specific areas then how to stretch the trigger point and possibly prevent pain from returning or at least the severity if the symptoms arise again. My fingers are no longer hurting or drawing inwards and the numbness is slowing fading. The more I continue to work the trigger point & stretch it gets better. I try to do little bits each day because after the first time I was so sore and swollen but I definitely felt so much better. I highly recommend this book to anyone with chronic pain or discomfort. I was so tired of taking medicine that wasn't helping the pain or problem. It has been years since I have had relief from pain and this booked helped me achieve it.

Sustainable Tx for Pain
Excellent book in terms of content and accessibility. I learned an immense amount about trigger points, and I have not even finished the book. It helped me understand chronic pain and referred pain. As a person with fibromyalgia, trigger point therapy is the only affordable and sustainable treatment option. Taking pharmaceuticals, receiving physical therapy or massages, and utilizing alternative care modalities are not sustainable for the rest of my life. The aforementioned options are only effective on a short-term basis, and I needed a better option that I have the most amount of control over--trigger point therapy.

Very useful
This book was very useful in helping me treat my right rotator cuff shoulder pain and impingement. The basic premise is to massage all the tender areas in and around and in the vicinity of the sore joint. It took close to 2 months to get rid of the pain after suffering fo 20 months. The diagrams are great and helpful. This is not how you treat a complete tear of the rotator cuff, but is effective for inflammations and impingement. You need to work hard and be obsessive about persevering with this treatment until it's done. In other words, it's hard work, but definitely worth it. I only used it for my right shoulder, but I'm sure it can work for other joint and muscle pain as well.. Make sure to consult a health care professional about your diagnosis before you proceed, so you don't treat an acute surgical condition with massage. The availability in digital format was helpful in doing the treatment while away from home.

DIY NIRVAVA GUIDE BOOK # 1
My first favorite book on Trigger Point self-care, Integrates well with book by Davies, as well as Finando's other book on Myofascial Pain. If you only get one book on this topic , I suggest this one. The other two provide slightly different aspects, but all three are 'rich' in info. I read this from cover to cover, initially, and use the index to re-refer to specific issues. It is interesting that many 'new-age' people are re-examining Trigger Points as scientists acknowledge that not all treatments are in pill form.

Trigger Point Self-Care Manual
If you are having some pain or stiffness, take a look at this book. Getting older doesn't have to be a painful thing, this book is good at helping you figure what to do depending on what part of you hurts. Trigger Point has helped me with back and leg pain, it has also saved me a lot of money by not needing to go to the doctor for pain relief, let alone the scary medications for pain.

Trigger Point Self Care Manual
This book has change the way I look at muscle pain. I have learn so much about different trigger point and how to locate them. It's amazingly easy to understand and I feel so happy to know I can help myself using a tennis ball to pin point the hard to reach areas. Very happy with this book.

Best book I have come across on massaging trigger points. Excellent pictures guide reader with coloured markings as to where to apply pressure, and entire book is organized in chapters for each part of the body starting with the head. the writer's well written description of the condition of each area and causes of the particular problem and the drawings of suggested exercises to alleviate pain are most helpful.

Extremely accessible for someone who is totally new to the topic. My first book was aimed at practitioners, because I find that that level is usually the most thorough. But being new to this subject, I was quickly overwhelmed by all the medical terminology. I got this book second, hoping for something more accessible. This was perfect. If you're new to the subject and you haven't memorized the names of all your muscles, lol, this is a great starter book, and could well be the only one you'll need. I've used the recommendations for a few different issues with great success. It's eye opening to realize how many problems are actually caused by tense muscles. Highly recommend to anyone, because we all end up developing these muscle "knots" at some point in life. Just glancing through the issues this book addresses will give you a sense of how many things can be treated simply by relaxing the appropriate muscle. Amazing insights. This is a fantastic addition to my medical library.

è in inglese, ma dal mio punto di vista è ben comprensibile. ci sono moltissime spiegazioni e disegni che indicano il muscolo e i possibili dolori che questo causa quando va incontro a contrazioni eccessive etc.
