The HiFiBerry Amp4 is a top-tier, highly efficient Class-D power amplifier tailored for the Raspberry Pi. It supplies power to the Raspberry Pi, eliminating the need for an external 5V power supply. The Amp4 is engineered to work with all speakers or those with a 4-8 Ohm impedance. It supports sample rates ranging from 44.1-192kHz (16-32bit). If your software doesn't recognize the Amp4 as an output option, use the HiFiBerry DAC+ driver, as the Amp4 is essentially a DAC+ with an integrated power stage. The Amp4's integrated voltage converter is robust enough to power even the latest Raspberry Pi 4. However, it's not designed to power additional power-hungry USB devices or other hardware. Low-power devices like mice and keyboards pose no issue. There might even be enough power for external hard disks, but excessive current draw from USB boards or the 5V rail on the GPIOs could cause system instability. Review: Solid product with several software options - I have two in use for a few years now. They’ve been working fine for my needs. I’ve used them with max2play and piCorePlayer with LMS. If buying today, I’d consider the many complete products that are now available for a competitive total package price. Review: For a class D amp board, this is a gem - I love this little amp. Don't underestimate it. I use mine with a Raspberry Pi 4, the HifiBerry DSP board, the Topping P50 linear power supply, and my self made C-note speakers. Its a fabulous little hifi system that keeps me happy every evening, while I listen to my tunes in the living room.
