These devices are difficult to begin using and did not log or track temperature as a result. After multiple attempts to use these I could never get them to give an accurate temperature reading/recording and the date and times were not accurate as well. Instructions were not clear and covered two different models that had different operation and functions.

This logger is a trivia to use stand alone data logger that you simply turn on and place it where you want to log the temperature. I turned it on and placed in my refrigerator at first since I wanted to see if it was maintaining a consistent low temp, and it was. Then I removed it to take it to work to examine the data, and lost it in my car. It is VERY small (about the size of typical car key fob) and slippery. I thought it was gone for sure. I finally did find it and the data it collected showed the story in the attached graph. The opening days showed my fridge was doing okay. They you can see the spike when I left it in my car and the rise and fall of day time temps in September. To read the data all I had to do was plug it into the USB port of my computer. The data is presented along with the chart as a PDF and all the raw data is also stored in a CSV file for further analysis. Since this unit goes up to -30°C ~ 70°C ( -22°F ~ 158°F) you can use it for monitoring many things like shipping containers, areas of a home exposed to different factors and so many other things. At this price it can be for serious work as well as experimenting.

Easy to use temp monitor. To start this device you just push the button for 5 or so seconds. Once started, it tracks the time and temperature. Once done you can just plug it into a USB port on a computer (mine runs Linux Mint OS). It displays a .pdf file with the time and temps (only in degrees Celsius) and a .csv file which has time/date and temperature in both degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit. I picked up two temp monitors and used them to track the difference between the outside temp monitor and the temp monitor in the crawl space. Very nifty onetime monitors for a low price.

I'm a woodworker, and to sharpen tools scary sharp the best way to do that is use Japanese waterstones. However, you need to keep them in water. Therefore in the shop I have three Tupperware containers with three different grit waterstones. One of them is a very expensive stone made from a certain quarry in Japan. It is pricey because it is so rare. Unfortunately, if that water freezes, it can crack that very expensive stone. This winter when we leave for an extended time, I want to know if my partially heated woodshop stayed above freezing. I'm going to use one of these. For only $10 that's a bargain. Once you fire it up, you're good for either 100 or 200 days logging, depending on the logging frequency you set. So obviously, I can't test it out till I use it, because once started, you can't turn it off. I will re-evaluate when I use it. In the meantime, since Frigga seems like a professional high end company, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt up front and for NOW, give it five stars.
