RackChoice Server case MicroATX/Mini-ITX 2U Rackmount Server Chassis max 7x3.5 Bay / USB3.0 with 2.0 Adapter Support ATX PSU Either top or Side Cooling Depth 15.7"

My new ESXI Edge build is complete! First time to build a 2U Server Chassis, I primarily build 4U Servers, but this was one of my favorite builds so far. I want to tell you a few things what not to do or buy. #1. Don't buy the Noctua NH-L12Sx77 cpu cooler, it's too high; about 7mm too high. I had to return it and get the Noctua NH-L12S instead. It is the perfect CPU cooler for this case. #2. Do not use a non-modular PSU. I originally was going to re-use a Corsair PSU I had laying around; but this case doesn't have a lot of room. The less the better. #3. Upgrade your case fans immediately. Also, pull out the mesh air filter, it causes less optimal air flow. This case is solid and the quality close to Silverstone, which is my go to with server chassis builds. It's not flimsy and comes with all the screws and even NVME screws you're going to need for a build. I thought that was a nice touch. #4. If you don't need the smaller HD brackets, pull them out and use the screw mounting holes for cable management. drill a small hole through a velco strip and secure it to the case. Less clutter = better air flow. I'm using this for a ESXI 7 host, with my Router/Firewall as a VM, and then Windows 2022 Server as a VM, which is acting as a DHCP Server, DNS, NFS Filer Server (NAS like), and some other small work tasks I need from my home lab. I'm extremely happy with this build so far. With the parts list below; this is running smooth and quiet. It looks great from the front too. I built a custom PC based on Alpine Linux to run my edge router/firewall/VPN device as well as some docker containers for media serving and surveillance recording (Emby and Frigate, respectively). The construction is high quality. I initially had some concerns as it was a bit wobbly sitting out on the table, but once mounted inside the rack there was no sagging or movement at all. I replace the included (very loud) fans with Noctuas and the device is practically silent. The HDDs make the most noise out of everything. One maybe important thing, the case may be too deep for some equipment racks. I have a Tripp Lite 6U rack, and this case sticks out maybe 1-1.5 inches, meaning I would not be able to wall mount the rack. I can live without doing that, though I had planned on doing so in the future at some point. Just pointing this out.

Good price. Fits a fill size ATX PSU. Simple design, build quality is good. Hard drives may have clearance issues with some MicroATX boards (SATA, fan or IO connectors at edge of board near drives). Fans are single speed 12V units with a filter (not easily removed for cleaning unfortunately).

Replaced the front fans with 4 BeQuiet 80mm fans, and the unit runs nice and quiet. This is a MATX build with a relatively beefy processor for this case/fans. I used the Intel Ultra 7 265K. I tried the small Noctua NH-L9i-17xx, and it was fine under low loads. However, when I load tested the system, the temps went way too high to fast. I decided to up this to the Noctua NH-L12 Ghost S1 Edition, and this works ok. It is a REALLY tight fit, but with the fins aligned to allow air from the case fans to pass through them from front to rear (tips of the heat pipes touching the side of the case - some heat transfers to the case as well). it cools pretty well. Sustained load testing on all 20 cores for 1 hour hits 102-104 degrees. Going to change the fan to a NF-A9 PWM for higher RPMs/CFM/Airflow, and I think that combination will work better under moderate loads, and still have enough cooling capacity to stay in the 90s under short term heavy loads. If you are putting this case in a data center, you would just beef up the 80mm fans to some high CFM screamers and this case would run cool, but for home lab type use I think this combination of case/fans/coolers is a nice quiet compromise setup that runs well for moderate loads, but will not fry a CPU under short term heavy loads.

Great 2U case. I use this for my home server. It's not big, but if you size your components, you shouldn't have a problem fitting anything in.

Like many others, I replaced the included fans and couldn’t be happier. I was able to get the rack mounted aesthetic for my itx server build without breaking the bank. Love it!

This is fairly nice for the money with decent fan coverage. But be careful: the edges of some of the internal metalwork were sufficiently sharp that I cut myself twice, needing bandages both times. I liked the layout, so ended up buying an inexpensive deburring tool (AFA Tooling) to deburr the rough edges - nice tool and I'm glad to have it. As some others seemed to have done, I replaced the fans with 80 mm Noctua fans - I'd say this is almost mandatory. In the end, I'm keeping the chassis for another build. For this one, I ended up using a far more expensive rackmount case that had a few inches more of depth.
