Now I have used this several times I can say that for small to medium sized rooms this does throw enough light and the App is very good and easy to use. A long power lead is very helpful and the ability to run it from a v-lock battery is in some circustances a bonus, although I have not tried that yet.

The 230B is an excellent light!I also own an Amaran 200x, and to be honest, I think this light is superior. It's cheaper, comes with its own carry case, and can be run off a V-lock battery with an adapter (sold separately), which the Amaran can’t do. (I don’t have the adapter yet, but it’s great to know it’s an option.)The app works really well—fast and responsive. If I had my time again, I’d have bought two of these instead of the more expensive Amaran. Sure, I still get the benefits of Sidus Link with both Aputure and Amaran lights, but in terms of value for money and functionality, I couldn’t be happier.Neewer really knows how to cater to the budget market while still delivering professional results. I’d buy this light again in a heartbeat.

Very bright light, easily controllable . Reasonably well built, very happy all round.Just note that if you buy a small rig V-lock plate (I couldn’t find a Neewer one for sale) and cable to power it via batteries, it is the wrong polarity and you’ll need to rewire the XLR end the opposite way round. Or get a D-Tap to XLR cable made up.Once I worked that out I was happy that it could be used via batteries or mains power, most useful.You’ll need a decent lighting stand too as once rigged , especially with a soft box, it can be front heavy.

Loving this light, I am using it and an Arri HMI to shoot prices to cameras from the shade of a hotel balcony with the middle east sun lighting up the back ground. The Neewer is brighter, a lot lighter (excess baggage), a lot cheaper, has variable colour tempter, can dim, app remote operation and more. Next job I will be using 2 of these and leaving the Arri at home.
