Invaluable information
I haven't actually completed the entire book yet, but I'm only in the third chapter and blown away! First, believe the cover when it says it is a guidebook. It's great reading, but the intention is to put knowledge into action to heal yourself. This outlines a long-term process to healing. I don't think I found this by accident. For me, I was totally oblivious to the topic until I started reading and took time to think about it. How have I never considered or thought about this before? There's a lot of invaluable information packed in here. I'm not even past part I! Can be overwhelming with info overload but worth it. It might be best to read a little at a time and then re-read. Even if you're not dedicated to the full process, I think for a novice on the path (like me), even doing some or a few things could be useful and bring profound healing. That's my intention. Take what resonates and work with it, what doesn't leave the rest. If it does, maybe slowly incorporate other things and work your way up to the full plan. At the least, you gain great knowledge just by reading alone. I recommend.

I consider this the “black” woman’s Bible
While i know everyone will have their own perspective in general, I believe that I must speak up for those truly interested in deep healing and true womb (feminine) healing. This book is not your average book by far, it’s not your average “self help” book either, and it’s not the type of book you can even dive into if the “soul” isn’t fully ready to do the work. You can read it all day long, but if you aren’t ready and willing to do the deep work it takes to appreciate a book like this, don’t buy it because you won’t like it. For me, this book is a holy grail to healing women. I have had it for almost two years and I have not read fully through it yet, I just picked up the newest edition and plan to continue to read and do healing work. I think it’s also worth mentioning that it’s okay if some things in the book doesn’t resonate with you, take what’s for you and leave what is not. This will help you when processing her teaching methods and practices. If you believe that there is only ONE way to your god, and your religion won’t allow you to receive these teachings, then as I stated earlier your “soul” is not ready for this type of deep healing work. This book is not for the faint hearted or skeptics. It’s for those courageous enough to look at their most darkest places and bring them to the light for the best healing you can have as a woman. It’s for those who are open to understanding the ancient afrikan ways because this book was and is specifically designed for those of the AFRIKAN diaspora. It takes you back to the ancient ways of our healing before colonization of our worlds as people of color. So that alone might deter you from the book if you hold bias there. This type of work is not simple and it’s not a “quick fix”, this type of book is designed to be apart of your ongoing journey as a sacred tool to heal—- and that is a lifestyle choice, not something you can get done in a year or after reading a couple chapters and then stopping there. This book is full of wisdom, motivation, positive affirmations, love, acceptance, insight, harmony, truth, and most of all Mother God. In short: this book has single-handely changed my life for the better and I know that it will help shape my life even more from here, and byway I’ll help other women continue on their healing journey. Remember this book isn’t only about you, when you heal; you can heal your whole world around you. But it starts with you accepting the journey unapologetically.

Reader beware, this book might challenge your assumptions...
I really enjoyed this book. This is my first Afrocentric homeopathic healing book. I usually read websites and books about medicinal herbal remedies. I garden. I eat a mostly plant based diet. I am a black woman. I do yoga. Etc. So, some of the information in the book I’ve heard about in passing. Without this book I wouldn’t have the courage to incorporate many of the author’s suggestions into my life. The suggestions would just get filed in the back of my mind like, “yeah, I should add Epsom salts to my bath or drops of lavender oil”. I must admit that some of this book was a bit of a joke to me. I understand that everyone comes from differing educational backgrounds and lifestyles but I found it surprising for women to lack knowledge of their monthly menstrual cycle. I was also almost offended by one or two statements in the book about history… but hey, facts are facts and just because I am ‘over’ history doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. What I didn’t really love was the ritualistic nature of the entire book. I can’t imagine doing all that the author suggests. I don’t think I could go to work if I followed her guidelines. I added post its after post its to the book. There are so many teas, food ideas, relaxation ideas, suggested healing remedies (for ailments I don’t even have! LOL) that I know this book is invaluable. What I finally realized is that, like Christianity and segments of the Bible—this book is like a full manual to a lifestyle and (somewhat?) religious way of thinking. When I first opened the book I had no idea what the Khamit/Khamitic ways of thinking had to do with self-healing. By the end of the book I found myself carefully reading those sections. They are interesting. I am not a regular churchgoer, but I fully believe in a higher power and accept his/her guidance in my life. Queen Afua’s higher power has multiple parts- Maat, Het-Hru, Nefer Atum, Heru, and Tehuti. This might bother a reader that comes from another religious tradition. It doesn’t bother me because I recognize that religion is a choice and the assumption of Christian belief that many American’s have is often just blind acceptance of a forced culture. Few examine their faith. I respect Queen Afua’s examination and explanation of how the tenets of her faith can lead to a womens’ self-healing. I wish other traditions did so. Many in the United States, as it is a supposed Christian nation, could benefit from such an examination instead of blind dependence on medical doctors, pills, and the health care system as our gods. I understand that this book is meant to be an all inclusive guide but… I just don’t think I am on a path to becoming a sacred woman as laid out by Queen Afua. My final thought was… “this is so much work…” I am open to introspection, self-care, self-healing, and meditation but not exactly ready to set up my own altar… but I thought about it… hard.
