can see all the thoughtfulness in design and craftsmanship involved in making this ruler, things that you can expect from Japanese manufacturers. like a work of art. specially engineered surface to eliminate reflection so that the readings are always visible. silghtly bent at one end to enable easy pick up. price is high but totally worth it.

As a furniture maker I need accurate measurement instruments and always gravitate towards the Shinwa brand. It’s easy to read and the pick up function is very functional. Great quality and relatively cheap.

I’ve tried a lot of steel rules. Shinwa steel rules are a class apart, glare free, accurate, easy to see, did I mention glare free?? This makes a massive difference in poor light. Anything else is like measuring with a blunt sausage. Just buy one. They really are top notch quality for reasonable money.

A 6 in rule is a 6 in rule. Well, Yes and No. Some are flimsy, with poor etching, reflective, and hard to see clear mm as your eyes age. Not these 150mm rules. Not cheap but well made and clear to rear full mm. Worth the price.

Superb. The finish on this is light in colour yet matt, so it doesn't case glare but it does provide very good contrast with the markings. This combined with the proper etched markings makes it easy to read. With JIS grade 1 accuracy it's a tool I can use with confidence. As I make a lot of small items from wood this has actually become the size of ruler I use most, and it's nice to have one so easy to read. It doesn't cost much so if you're at all tempted then just give in and get one. You'll probably be tempted to buy more Japanese tools after seeing the quality of this item.

Can use both sides. Quality product. The pick up tab at the end is very useful. Made in Japan indeed.

A fab ruler easy to read without the annoying 1/2mm you usually get. The only slight negatives is i think it could be a bit thicker as I’m afraid it might bend.
