- Raspberry Pi 5-8GB Starter Kit - Turbo Cooled Edition - 32GB Memory (Aluminum Black)

I'm a professional IT person and tech enthusiast who finally decided to get a personal Raspberry Pi 5 8GB after using various Pi models as micro project systems at work over the last few years. This kit has just about everything you would want in a starter kit, from the actual Raspberry Pi, to a quality case with a cooling fan, to an included micro HDMI to full HDMI adapter, to an included microSD card with preinstalled Raspberry Pi OS—just to get you started. I found assembly quite simple; the instructions with pictures in the box were helpful, and they also included a QR code for a video demonstration. However, to sum up the build experience, line up the power button, then drop in the Pi, attach the fan cable and thermal pad, and then just screw the two sections of the case together. I decided to daily drive the included Raspberry Pi OS as a desktop system and found it to be an enjoyable albeit minimal Linux environment. My day one project was just to install Quake III Arena and host a listen server for me and a friend to enjoy on LAN against bots. While performance wasn't perfect, things went quite well. I have to admit, for the price, it's incredible how capable this computer is right out of the box. I'm really looking forward to experimenting more with other distros on this device and writing some Bash, Python, and PHP scripts along the way. I'm fairly familiar with Kali, and I definitely want to experiment with that distro on this lightweight computer. I'm waiting for an order of more microSD cards to be shipped so I can easily swap between OSes without having to reimage the system drive.

Pretty much everything you need for startup, though I kind of wish they didn't include the SD card because it's the one thing I usually end up not using. But the power supply, case, and everything else is pretty much ideal. This is usually what I'll buy if I am gifting a pi to one of the kids as a retro arcade station or whatnot.

The product was as described and arrived in a timely manner. The assembly instructions were very clear and the product is working well as of now.

If fan noise bothers you, maybe stay with the Pi 4, or maybe another maker has a quieter fan. It sounds like a mosquito in your ear. If it's in a room that you're not in, it'll be okay, but beware this is loud!

Standardization, cost and ease of use

Llego en excelentes condiciones, super bueno para los proyectos que quería realizar. Actualmente la tengo como VPN casera, además le instale el PiHole para evitar anuncios molestos.

Perfecto, vino todo completo y bien organizado. Lo ocupo como router con OpenWRT y la raspi5 va sobrada, quizá le agregue una partición con OpenMediaVault para mi propio NAS (OpenWRT no llega ni a 5% de consumo de CPU, insisto, raspi 5 va sobrado). Recomendado al 100.

Me ha encantado esta compra, la carcasa es perfecta.
